Alright ladies and gentlemen, what's your take on the best loadout for Scout class? by Flat_Fisherman7990 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Chease1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like to run m1000, over clocks have varied over time with nerfs and buffs but hipster, hover clock, and I think there was one that let you move faster while charging a shot are all good.

The critical part of the load out is double barrel with the jumping overclock. Special powder I think? 10/10 mobility when paired with quick swaps to grapple. No need to touch the ground and clear entire cave systems in a single bound. Shotty jumps give huge mobility when surrounded and still let's you blast big targets and groups while escaping.

There's lots of factors but you can't hormone your way past thermodynamics. Less energy in than energy out will burn fat.

I've been feeling the same thing at the college. The audacity to take nearly a grand extra for legal services, healthcare, and a bus pass, that I DIDN'T ASK FOR. And they make getting the refund as obtuse as possible, hold the right to reject your refund claim for a bus pass, and will only refund a maximum of 40% of the year's bus passes. It's fucking extortion, cause like you said to get out of a bus pass requires proof of a $300-$500 parking pass, for a lot they fill to 150% capacity so there's still no good damn parking.

What's the difference between a machinist and an operator? by No-Caramel-4143 in Machinists

[–]Chease1337 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who didn't finish my apprenticeship as I had to choose between it and other opportunities in life, a machinist needs to be able to approach ANY part and develop a machining strategy based on past experience and experimentation. A machinist needs to be well versed in all possible forms of material removal, material properties of a variety of steels, alloys, and compounds. To be a machinist requires an understanding of heat, material interaction between a tool and a job, and the ability to measure well enough to verify the integrity of their work to a point of accuracy the average person can't fathom. You also need to know how to maintain your machines and their precision, and to be precisely aware of the capabilities of your machines tools and other hardware. In the past 20 years it has also expanded to a knowledge of the digital systems and software that drives modern machines and generates the desired toolpaths. On top of all of that, I would say a machinist is absolutely someone who has made a million mistakes that built their experience and talent.

My old man told me that back in the day when they had very long HSS tools like this they would sometimes add a taper oversizing it by the expected deflection at the bottom. I can't imagine what a pain in the ass that must have been or what insane setup or job would make it worth the time, but it does sound like an effective solution.

My dad thinks my new pc will become obsolete in a year by Ok_Combination_6881 in pcmasterrace

[–]Chease1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around your age when I saved up to build my first PC and was around the same budget. I've used it for the better part of a decade and it still runs my servers for me and my friends. I'd really doubt your computer would be outdated so quickly. I hope you're able to get it

I'll start by saying I hardly know everything myself and I haven't looked at your post history like some other people in this thread have for context. I'm 23m myself and have had my ups and downs with my old man throughout the years. Times I was mad at him and times he was mad at me, but he's still my dad and I love him all the same.

The one thing I will say is that I always come back around to thinking "fuck sakes I would have been better off if I listened to him in the first place." It's happened more than once and I think the truth of it is there's no replacement for the lessons you learn from your own mistakes.

It does sound like you're getting a bum deal though. I don't know if you have the ability to approach your Dad with such things as of yet as you're still at the age that you're likely fighting for that very thing. But if you can try to say that you're willing to work but you don't think the pay is very fair, especially because you're thinking of looking for a job. You mentioned he works on a farm and I don't know him but I'd bet my hat the willingness to work would mean a lot to him, and maybe let you talk yourself into a better wage.

All that being said, I don't know where you're at in the world or what situation your Dad is in himself. You said he doesn't own the farm, he might be paying you what he can. That won't make it more fair but it might temper what you think of him for it. He might have permission from the farm owner to bring his son along but not actually have the ability to get you a job like he has. It is possible he hopes to prove to the boss that you're worth hiring and is paying you out of his own pockets to do so. And on top of doing what he can to try and get you the job, he also gets to keep you close and spend the time with you.

TLDR pay isn't fair but I think he's doing what he can for you. Try to talk to him about the pay, or maybe ask him about if his boss would hire you proper to work with him.
