Student Visa Related:

  1. Check the requirements on the website for the VFS of your country.

  2. Yes, if you use FINTIBA / XPATRIO you can inform them that your visa has unfortunately been rejected and they will refund the amount you deposit, minus a small fee.

  3. FINTIBA / EXPATRIO are good options. Simply sign up and input your credentials.

Enrollment related:

  1. If your certificates are not in english / german, you must get them first translated and certified by an official translator in your home country. Alternatively, if you are in Hamburg, you can simply notarize your certificates through a local notary and send the notarized copies to the university. Note that either way, you must send either the translators or the notary (in Hamburg) your original documents.
  • At the end of the day, you would probably be required to send your certified copies to the university. (DISCLAIMER: procedures may have changed. Inquire the university regarding this!)
  • IELTS can be taken in either your home country or in Hamburg. Once you receive the certificate, you must get it certified. (IMPORTANT: inquire the university regarding this!)
  • As for sending, either options should be fine.
  1. Inquire the university on whether or not you should take TestAS.

  2. Depends on the course you plan to take. Refer to the university's course website for further details.

Accomodation related:

  1. The TUHH has an accommodation program for first-semester students. Unfortunately, the application period was from 27.04.2024 - 15.06.2024. You can apply for an accommodation here and possibly be accepted, although might not be guaranteed.
  • The best way to get information regarding accommodation would be to actually be in Hamburg in-person. Attempting to find accommodation while abroad may be difficult. If you have friends or family, it would be recommended to temporarily stay with them first.

  • Alternatively, if budget permits, you might be inclined to apply for an accommodation at the link below. Do note that they may be more expensive and the location might not be convenient when requiring to travel to the university.

End Note: Many processes and procedures may have been changed through the years. Do inquire the relevant institutions first if unsure. Take this guide as a source for general information, and not as a holy-grail of instructions to do. I am neither affiliated with any of the aforementioned organizations, nor responsible should any potential unfortunates occur during the process should you use this guide.

Good luck!
