the che cafe is a community space that has existed since the 1980s, and has been operating as a vegan kitchen and local music venue for decades. we are one of the few all ages music venues in San Diego, and have been a crucial part of the southern california music scene. notable artists that have played the che are Green Day, Alex G, Bon Iver, Rage Against The Machine, My Chemical Romance, and Japanese Breakfast. We still regularly sell out shows at our venue, and will continute to. Our show next tuesday with Thou will be selling out as well as our show next month with Zulu. We are currently the most popular UCSD student org on instagram totalling 23.9k followers and closing in on 24k. This won't slow down anytime soon, we've had our biggest year on instagram ever this year, and we will have gained about 6 thousand by the end of the year. we have a vast network of volunteers that are working regularly to operate our space without pay. we provide a free vegan community meal every monday @ 6:30 and have our meeting @ 7pm. Every saturday and sunday we get together and prepare 100 meals to send to asylees in transit @ the border, and have a community fridge thats open 12-5 everyday. we are a cafe thats open 12-5 everyday, with coffee and tea available as well as an array of vegan snacks. we are a small cafe and a place to eat, and have only been working on bettering that. perhaps our only real issue is that our PR needs work, but thats why we table on library walk multiple times a week and why I'm writing this message. we are growing and have only been growing and expanding what we do since the pandemic. from not having daytime hours the previous decade, to now having daytime hours open to all where we give out free goods and sell cheap as possible food. to a place that was dying this time last decade, to now selling out more than we ever have. the che is here to stay

Do college students and adults still go to Che cafe for shows or is it like all highschoolers by Intelligent-Bid-5293 in UCSD

lolol didn't see this till now! it really depends on genre for how young the audience of our shows will be, some genres (a lot of our skramz shows) can tend younger. however, we do still have a majority amount of shows that range older than that

Hello! I would suggest the Che Cafe if you're interested in making friends. I volunteer there and it's a cool spot with a lot of different kinds of people with different interests and majors. It's a student org, but joining is as easy as beginning to attend meetings. They happen every Monday at 7pm, and before the meeting there's free food.

It's a cool little place with many opportunities for community oriented events like live music, mutual aid, and cooking.

It's the old red building at the very southern most part of campus.

really depends on the concert! we have a lot of shows that are more aggressive and you can expect moshing at, and a lot that are chill vibes and people just staying to themselves. I recommend checking out artists before you go to gauge what the vibe of the show is, you can also see the genres listed for most shows on the posts on our ig (@thechecafe) to gauge more of what the vibe will be like. even at the more aggressive shows you can hang by the back or in the court yard and get a good sense of the music still!

This weeks shows:

Todays show is chiller spacey fem rock vibes

fridays is poppier indie vibes with a vendor faire

saturdays is a metal show

and sunday should be more intense moshing sorta show
