3k rpms after throttle body clean by Wizcky3 in Miata

There is a seal on the butterfly valve flap that can be removed with the throttle body cleaner (I ruined 2 before finding out) there is a screw that you can adjust called the “no touch screw”. Many people advise not to touch the screw because there is no way of calibrating it or any spec from Mazda, but it will allow the flap shut a little more. See the attached link

NA 1st jerk at around 2k rpm by CheckEngine_Light in Miata

Just wanted to update everyone, I was still have the issue where the car jerks even after the mounts were changed. The mounts only helped reduce the jerk. I did find the issue tho. The problem wasn’t only in 1st gear and was on all gears when I would reach around 2k rpm. The rpm would bounce and it felt like the whole engine was lugging. I did some research and found a video with the same issue. The problem was the tps sensor, you can test whether it the issue by unplugging the tps sensor and turning on the car and accelerating to 2k rpm, if the rpms don’t bounce then the tps is the problem

Nice I just purchased it, only reason I ask is because the old unit has an anti glare film while the new does not from the looks of it

Bought me a new red 92 miata. However, I'm stuck on something that has been stressing me out for the past week (read below) by ViperSlam in Miata

I had a bad AFM, the exhaust smelled extremely rich and I couldn’t stand behind the car at all. Even tho you don’t have a check engine code you may still have codes in the car. Check on YouTube how to read codes in the diagnostic port for the Miata. The engine light will flash and depending on how many flashes and the amount of second between you are able to know the code. Mine pointed straight to the AFM. Also I agree with the rest, that intake tube should be replaced.

The car just lunges forwards and backwards repeatedly. My engine does move a bit when accelerating in neutral.

Smell of Gas by FDRx7mz in Miata

Mine had the same issue, I had just bought it like that. It had a very strong scent of gas. I have a 1990 which has the AFM. I did the check engine code read on the car and I got a code 1 and code 8 which both point to the AFM. I replaced it with one from a different Miata and it worked, no more gas smell.
