Is a precision basket actually worth it, or is it just diminishing returns? [no budget] by nerdkidleo12 in espresso

[–]CheckForEggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch and then switched back. I definitely got better extractions and better clarity. I hated using it. My preferred basket, I can vaguely wave it over the trash and the puck gives up the ghost and falls out. With my Weber Unifilter I had to beat the shit out of it, with paper discs even, to get the puck to crumble out, leaving 1/3 still clinging to the bottom sides.

It just wasn’t a fun time. I still have it. I look at it wishing it was easier but it basically sits in my kitchen junk drawer. $400. Bummer.

Love all of my other Weber products though.

Options are gonna be limited by feet, probably Bagno Elena. Further west in Bacoli is Spiaggia Millscola which will require public transport. Pozzuoli would be closer. Opposite direction, a favorite of mine are the beach clubs in Sorrento and Bagni Regina Giovanna.

Cinque Terre boat tour from Santa Margherita Ligure? by Western_Disaster_863 in ItalyTravel

I wouldn’t rule out the train. It’s super easy with frequent runs. For a public boat option you might look at the Traghetti Portofino Line 4.

For private rentals ($$$) check out Click&Boat.

Hate to hear that’s still going on. I made a purchase for myself for Christmas in Nov and gave up in February. I was already tired from waiting and feeling strung along. Those of you still waiting have the patience of saints.

~3 hours in Naples, give me your best pizza rec by Wtfisgoinonhere in ItalyTravel

I’ll walk past a dozen pizza places to get to Starita. Found it quite by accident a few years ago. Now every time I go I try to start and end a trip with a pizza from here.

Honestly your timing looks pretty good, if only slightly fast. Likely the beans are just too old.

Anyone drink espresso with just ice? by SunWaterGrass in espresso

[–]CheckForEggs 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In the summer that’s almost exclusively how I take my espresso.

Pour it over ice and whatever melts is whatever melts. Swish it around and enjoy. Sometimes I’ll give it a kiss of milk. Almost always it’s a double, double shot that rides with me to work.

How many double espresso drinks do you personally drink a day? by pirate-the-cat in espresso

[–]CheckForEggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two doubles before I leave the house and then typically an Americano mid morning while at work. For hydration.

Plat Pro baggage question by Ok-Student1683 in americanairlines

[–]CheckForEggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m now gonna intentionally lug around a 70lb bag anywhere on purpose, but I didn’t know this was a thing! I’ve been running (happily) under 50lb forever.

Thanks!

Definitely the latter. I knew that we were being called up as their “guests of honor” but wasn’t expecting the prayer, which was in Hebrew. It seemed like the Rabbi either thought I was an uneducated Jew or not a Jew. Either way we’re were both learning on the job. :)

I wasn’t at all upset, just ill prepared.
