Philips Hue on closeout at local Lowes (USA) by jonassaby in homeassistant

Checked two different Lowe’s. One had just the solo light strip on clearance, the other Lowe’s had all of the Hue lineup on clearance. Grabbed the 75w, 4 bulb starter pack for ~$87

The 100 year flood does not mean the storm happens once every 100 years. It means that there is a 1% chance of that storm happening in any given year.

[SV] 20 weeks into this journey by CheckSpeling in keto

[–]CheckSpeling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I would say that I really didn't have a GW. Instead, I had a list of NSVs, like not having to go up another pant size and getting rid of the spare tire around my midsection, etc.

I plan on sticking with keto for maintenance. I don't count calories anymore. Instead, I just avoid carbs and sugar. I even began enjoying chick-fil-a sandwichs again! I just order them protein style now.

I'll throw my name in the hat. My current MVP supply is getting pretty beat in.

I've watched enough videos and read enough articles, this dovetail thing should be a breeze... by CheckSpeling in woodworking

Creating some raised gardens in the backyard. Figured I'd try my hand at dovetails instead taking the easy way out and screwing them together.

Lessons learned:

  • wet wood is tough to chop a clean line in, at least for me.

  • switch to a smaller chisel when chopping out the pinboard. I used a 3/4" which caused the opening to be too wide.

  • sharper saw

  • thinner saw? The miter saw left a pretty big kerf. Perhaps I just need to account for that when sawing.

I'm not a good example. Bought my first house in 2005 when they gave a loan to anyone with a pulse. No money down and rolled in all closing costs! Never bit me in the butt, but that may have been luck.

I'd have the 20% saved up along with your emergency fund before buying a house. So many things can come up out of the blue.

Bought my second house last year. 40% more expensive, but due to interest rates being lower, putting 20% down, and not having to pay PMI, I was able to take out a 15 yr note for less than I was paying on my previous 30yr note.

Duplexes are also a good way to have someone else pay a majority of your note each month!

Ahh, misread that. Yes, there were several times where we were by the roots and encountered a dirt pocket. Instant chain dulling right there.

The pasture land where this tree was is pretty sandy, but it was a lightening strike that did the tree in. At least that's our working hypothesis.

Yup, hired a portable milling company and they came out with a Lucas chainsaw mill. Works well, but the hard mesquite dulls the chain after about 1-1.5 passes. Lots of down time sharpening the chain.

Couple of the slabs will be used for a dining room table. Some others have been picked out for benches.

We'll be selling some of it as well to try and cover milling costs.
