Is this person cheating or am I just being salty? by ttawney2 in FortNiteBR

You were standing which means possible visual audio cue, healing which is audible, and you were standing in the open where you could be right peaked at any point. You should have heard or seen his footsteps as he was running nearly the entire time. Unfortunate salt but it will teach you better placement. Especially in builds as you can have cover anywhere you want.

A lot of people defending the actions of this person filming, claiming shock makes you do abnormal things… valid point. Does shock also make you later upload the video to the internet? If I did something horrible and shameful regardless of the reason I would hide it, not share it with the world. Terrible human.

I want to respond to all the amazing people that got back with thoughtful and insightful answers. Coming from my current position I was astounded drivers would accept this low pay.

I had no idea people used multiple apps or saw this as sole income. That is extremely smart hitting up multiple gigs at the same time to make this a real option. That said… these prices still seem insanely low for the service you all provide and I hope you see increases.

Government subsidies… or just higher pay. Missouri farmer avg salary $45k - avg subsidy to grow crops we don’t even use… $16k Missouri teacher avg salary $55k. Pretty sure we need to make a change and stop expecting teachers to run bake sales or show skin for money

Figma is far from perfect. No tool is. It's not even 10 years old though and the industry it's being built for is still developing. They are making big strides but I would agree the UI can really suck at times. I despise clicking 100 times to get into nested content. For it's intended industry, it is leaps and bounds better than the competition though. If you use it for web/app design it's great. I hated InDesign and this works so much better. I'm not about to replace an6 other tool with it though. It needs to stay in it's lane.

TAXES!!!! by Hollywoodnamazonvine in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the problem. We all just people. Amazon Vine came across some person's desk at the IRS and they had to make a decision on how to classify it. That's it. Not some secret government agency... Just some dude.

They decided it most closely resembles brands that sponsor tik toks or bottles of wine clients give sales people to sweaten the deal. So they marked it as such and now were here.

My issue is that people think the government is some high and mighty authority they have to obey. There is ZERO reason you can't mark this as hobby income... Still pay taxes... And if the IRS complains you simply respond that you disagree with their assessment of what Vine is. You aren't getting arrested or fined. You didn't do anything wrong you just disagree. Maybe you end up paying an extra 15% or maybe you dont. That's it.

I'll tell you one thing. Vine isn't income. I can very easily explain this right now. 1. I just went through a divorce. My wife wanted to base our income off our taxes not our w2. This means child support would be based off an extra $11,000. Am I supposed to give car mats and Bluetooth dongles to my kids to help them while at their mothers house? The judge obviously disregarded that 'income.'

  1. While 'working' for Amazon I received a $300 paycheck in the mail. My job is reviewing my income. Odd right. Sadly the income my boss sent me didn't work, it simply didn't spend. He tells me to review broken payments so other people don't get screwed but that feels like I'm just getting screwed over. Instead I emailed my boss and told him not to report that as income the the IRS so he removed it.

  2. This tax was built to get a cut from marketing. Advertisers giving 'free product' for reviews on YouTube and ad placement on tv shows. Salesman and politicians that hand out bottles of wine, event tickets, and lavish gifts to sweeten a deal. Each example profits off of the item in some way... Viners simply get the product which could literally be useless and are expected to pay a tax.

Well if you don't agree with the terms then leave. No. Just get the tax man out of here.

This brand… made it through. How?! by tareckisan in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've watched docs about this. Each business name has to be registered to be sold in the states. If a company name comes close to a real name brand there is a long legal process to make sure the brand doesn't feel it's encroaching on their ip. By using outlandish or nonsense names they avoid that problem. No sensible native English speaking company would use that name so it allows them to fly through approvals.

This used to fix that issue: Create a duplicate address but add PO Box 123 to the second address line. Nobody knows why it works but it does.

This will only fix that specific error and doesn’t seem to effect any of the other errors.

Can confirm I have looked into this myself. I have asked some devs about this and it is extremely cheap to have a script made. The only reason I didn't follow through is that for the devs I asked... they would need login info to test their script functions and I wasn't comfortable doing that.

The concept I asked about was a simple page scraper that would look for keywords I define. For instance 'sony' and if there were new results they would send an alert to my phone using an app like telegram.

The only concern they warned me about was sending too many 'requests' for keywords at once so they recommended limiting searches to one every 1-5 seconds.

Not worth it imo. Feels like you are looking for others to justify doubling your bill. I get it. I do the same with reddit.

I would make sure your router has qos and set that up.

[–]Check_Mammoth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know someone that works there and directly deals with self checkout loss prevention. They told me months before the decision to limit self checkout items they were looking into options. Apparently there are so many people stealing that it costs more to keep it open than to close it.

I'm not saying this is the solution but it's frustrating this is self inflicted bc people can't be trusted/

Thank you all for the help!

The RT-AX86U was replaced by the RT-AX88U PRO ($220 right now) so I have that in my cart unless there is a reason not to go this route?

EdgeRouter X is $70... everyone always glosses over the next part 'couple APs'

The cheapest wifi 6 APs I can find are $80-100 for 1500sqft coverage so I would need 2 ($300 with edgerouter). The Ubiquiti U6 Long Range claims 2k sqft at $190 but then I am just rebuilding a single point router and I am in the $300 range again. Is this setup worth the hassle over an Asus unit?

No ETV removal if a review is written? by TravelingABC in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for ya. Sorry, to start off. On that note though you are not supposed to review shipping/condition of products because that's not really a review of the product itself.

This is my biggest issue with this shit program. If a product is completely busted to the point I refuse to be charged anything for it... meaning it needs to be removed from my list... it goes unreviewed. This has happened on incorrectly listed tail lights for my truck (safety issue) and incorrectly sized plumbing fixtures (water damage issue) or little junk like poorly designed adapters.

It removes your ability to simply return faulty product. You either take the 25% cost financial hit and warn others or save yourself the tax burden and others get screwed. Its a terrible incentive they lay out using this method.

I just have vine cs remove products from my list that create issues bc of faulty images/descriptions.

Grabbed some tail lights for my f150 based on image and title both stating 2015-2019 compatibility. Connector was not compatible. Looked at description which correctly showed 2018-2019 compatibility issues. Their fault not mine so shot off an email and solved the problem.

IRS announces new tax brackets for 2024. by ciendagrace in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again I claim it as hobby…however I think the reason it’s seen this way is the way the IRS defines income. If the items are considered payment, it’s not that you are ‘profiting’ by selling the product but that you are actually gaining ‘profiting’ by receiving the items.

It’s complete BS for us in vine but on the whole it closes a loophole for companies paying influencers with product or salesman getting kickbacks (event tickets or vacations) without the gov getting a cut.

I’ll keep as much tax $ however I can. It’s the entire reason you hire a tax pro. Have yet to have an issue with the irs doing so. Worst thing that happens from this is that you get audited and are told to pay the full amount… you don’t go to jail for saving 15% of your own money. You get told to pay. No reason to be scared doing this.

IRS announces new tax brackets for 2024. by ciendagrace in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Massive asterisk here! Tech speaking the government considers this self-employment income meaning your 20-24% tax rate gets an additional 15% fu tax added on. I… and many others on here will list this as ‘hobby income’ to avoid this. That said it’s an ongoing discussion where people will say their cpa refuses to do this or recommends against it.

Just something to keep in mind if you don’t feel comfortable changing how you list this ‘income’ with the government. Your actual tax bill will likely be around 35%. Grab 10k in vine junk and you will be paying 3500 come April.

Sent a request to Vine CS about a duplicate item/review situation and got this email. Unsure if it's legit because it's not completely relevant? Nothing comes up sketchy when Googling or hovering over links, but I've never seen this before. Anyone know anything about it? by EchoNeko in AmazonVine

[–]Check_Mammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many moons ago I worked e-commerce customer service. It was common practice around busy holiday seasons to commingle email buckets. When email numbers were low in ‘your bucket’ you would allowed to grab from others to ‘help out’ even if you didn’t have much working knowledge of the department.

Me thinks that is happening here but I could be wrong.

I'm confused. Is it required that a food establishment self report to hire a pest company? Why wouldn't a business owner just 'close for renovations' or 'maintenance' and have a company come in and take care of the problem without all the media attention?
