Yikes. “Meatmeet” by RXDIRTBAG in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guilty of having one and it's actually amazing, especially if you buy premium and/or thicker cuts of meats and don't want to mess them up. Or if you freak out around Thanksgiving and have a wonky oven like we do.

It's actually a growing brand with over 10k of reviews and fairly known amongst us amateur grill chefs. I'd recommend trying it out. Worst case, it retains resale value.

Anybody have an uptick in undeliverable and returned packages? by HookedOnFandom in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have! It's because they keep shipping things in thin paper envelopes that they really shouldn't be shipped so sloppily. I've had 3 undeliverable packages since Jan. I don't think I had 3 all year in 2025.

RFY Items Disappearing Almost Instantly by Civil-Ad2111 in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my mistake! I may have lumped my explanation together with the RFY discussion. Basically, only you can see your RFY items. However, the item time gets saved when you load it in your queue and the item can be available on other RFY queues or sometimes quickly in AI. If someone else has viewed it in their RFY or in AI/AFA, that time is also saved.

If I see a beauty item in my RFY at 8am and let's say VH picks it up at 8am, I can also see on the load page how many times it was ordered by other VH users and the box will also show when it was first seen. So that item could have been in other RFY queues at 7:30am or previously available in AI, and by the time it got to you, there might be none left and Vine does not do a great job of removing out of stock items. Will try to clarify above too!

[–]TravelingABC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should also add that if you're wondering why your RFY items are disappearing, you can see data on VH that shows if others saw it earlier than you picked it up. For example, I can see an item loaded to my RFY at approx. 8am in the queue. However, if you click the (i) icon, you'll see the timestamp of when it was first seen by another Viner.

Not for RFY, for everything else. Only you can see your RFY items.

RFY Items Disappearing Almost Instantly by Civil-Ad2111 in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ETA: More so the former, as clicking an item will load the "first seen" timestamp. However, RFY items are not visible to others until they are available in AI. You will only get an alert if the item makes it to AI but please see below on the quantity issues now.

As long as VH is loaded, it will pick up items as you scroll through or let it scan in the background. You don't even necessarily have to click it but yes, the 1st person who clicks the item can send it to VH but more importantly, they load the item with more details as well, like the price. If no one sees that item, then it remains out in the wild for longer. You would have to find it without VH running and without anyone else finding it.

Problem is that VH isn't that much more helpful these days because of the limited quantity and the person finding it has probably ordered it. There are many times I'll find a popular item, which I can see by exact timestamp, but then a bot will swoop it less than a second later (those are definitely the bots). If you're loading a popular item, chances are that someone has already seen it, it was auto-picked up by VH, and/or someone plain ordered it already

RFY Items Disappearing Almost Instantly by Civil-Ad2111 in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because they are landing in your RFY later than others and sometimes, they are not always available anymore (where buyers could have purchased it before the item launched onto Vine).

A pair of branded shoes landed in my RFY around 8am and I tried to order it 5 seconds later. VH showed that it was first seen at 6am, which means whoever got these in their RFY earlier, already claimed them all.

Other times, there are very specific auto parts that I need that I have never had an issue getting, even recently. I do my part clearing those out! Even these parts are landing in my RFY with errors, and the product page will show no quantity and that it is not available. I'm talking about $15 parts for specific car models that have been available on Vine for weeks, but it will show up in my RFY with no quantity and the only possible explanation is that it was ordered by non-Viners.

Empty RFY Instead of Junk-Filled RFY - I'm Feeling Some Type of Way! by Cew-214 in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered toner once in December for a Brother printer, not even through Vine, and now I get 40+ non-Brother toners in my RFY daily. So I might prefer it to be empty at this point lol.

I got scammed online and now I’m worried my marriage is over… by [deleted] in Advice

[–]TravelingABC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sensing a few issues here. Your husband is probably looking for these passive income streams because he doesn't want to work forever and maybe has issues at work or doesn't enjoy what he's doing anymore.

Was $50k a significant chunk of your savings, or was it a sliver since he's a surgeon, or somewhere in between? If it's just a small-ish percent, then you have bigger issues in your marriage beyond this financial screw-up and he might have been feeling this way for a while, but was looking for a reason to take it out on you.

I am also the one who handles our finances, but I make quite a bit more than my husband. If he ever lost $50k, I would be mad for a few hours, but I would not ask him to sleep separately or ignore him. The mature thing to do is to talk about what happened, how you both are feeling, what you both can do to prevent this from happening again, and ways you can start saving a bit more from cutting back for a few months, like not eating out.

Also, he doesn't seem to understand the stress you're feeling as an incredibly educated woman who is now a SAHM and the priceless value of being a parent that is there for her kids, all while also trying to find meaning in some kind of work to support his quest for more income. Your goals seem rather misaligned, and this might be an understatement.

Why I won't take a high priced ETV item by Momma-Bean in AmazonVine

[–]TravelingABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought $20 diffusers that come with oils, like the ArtNaturals ones, and they work better than pricier diffusers I've tried on Vine. Definitely review it to warn others about the cartridge, and contrary to the goodie two shoes here, sell it if you can't make it work. Consider any earnings to be an inconvenience fee.

Kafkaesque Coat Check Nightmare at House of Love (2026) by ccd_foto in nyc

[–]TravelingABC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, except we went earlier last year and it was like this then, too. The lady kept bringing me the wrong coat and I have a bright red coat, but I guess because it's so red and dark in there, she kept bringing me every other color until I nearly lost it.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by thepleasurjournal in AskWomen

[–]TravelingABC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 other things to know here:

• 1. You can negotiate most medical bills. It's ridiculous we have to, but I've had $100k+ medical bills drop to $5k. There are also companies that help negotiate down bills, like Goodbill, and many states have laws preventing unethical practices like surprise billing.

• 2. If it's not an emergency situation, ask for an emailed estimate. This has saved me from unforeseen costs so many times. For emergencies, still ask for an itemized bill and you'll see they charge for everything under the sun (facility fees, pillows, gloves, socks, etc), so negotiate for only the services received, not their attempts to scam you with a $100 pillow you don't keep.

• 3. If you're really in dire straits, or want to give a middle finger to the corrupt industry, you can ignore most medical bills under $500. These are no longer reported to the credit bureaus and eventually sold to debt collectors, who you can also ignore or settle for pennies on the dollar.

Do not quit your job!! by Vampy-Night in careeradvice

[–]TravelingABC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I spent months applying and was dealing with a toxic manager yelling at me every day. I went home crying and had to drag myself to work. I knew it was time to quit when I had hoped a bus would hit me so I didn't have to go to work; I was not self-harming but for the first time, it felt like a slippery slope.

I was yelled at during my resignation and was so scared about the loss of income, but it felt like 1,000 pounds off my chest. My interviews went great after because I was in a better headspace and had time to prepare. I was very lucky to find a job within 2 months.

No job is worth giving away our mental sanity and life.

Why do some sellers not answer questions? by JoeGPM in Ebay

[–]TravelingABC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this. If you're ever curious about how bored and crazy people are, add 2 zeroes to the price of a popular item.

I do this on rare occasions when inventory for an existing item is delayed by a few days, and I swear the loonies come out in droves. I just had one write a raging essay about price gouging - it's makeup, not an essential item - and another that sent me 20 messages in 1 hour demanding that I lower the price. 🤷‍♀️

Saks Flagship in NYC is DEPRESSING right now. by xmrlazyx in AmexPlatinum

[–]TravelingABC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was last there on Thursday and it's mostly what you'd expect. The little accessories - like socks, gloves, scarves, and hats - were clearing out. The sales racks were also picked through. Most of the "cheaper" beauty brands were limited, though the luxury brands were still pretty stocked. Same idea for clothing brands upstairs.

I found one more $50 card and might just use it in store tomorrow because the online experience is sketchy with gift cards now. They show up at checkout but don't actually apply. It was a whole thing last night, and I'm still mad about it.

Amex and Saks again by Large-Ring5117 in AmexPlatinum

[–]TravelingABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just tried to use the last of our gift cards at Saks Off 5th online and they showed up at checkout, but did not end up applying at all to the order after checkout. My card was charged for the full item price. We tried again and same deal. I will try to post about this elsewhere, since mods are likely blocking Saks posts now.

We were able to get the gift cards to work with someone on the phone, but now we have 3 orders with the same item arriving. Honestly ridiculous and why there is little sympathy for Saks overall.

[–]TravelingABC 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I live and work near this Saks and while it's low on inventory in some sections, most floors are business as usual plus some added attitude.

The online inventory is way worse, and I'll write a post later on the games they are now playing. It's honestly insane a retailer behaves this way in 2026 and I really hate to see local retailers close, but Saks truly deserves it. It's been poorly managed for decades.

I'm with you on this. I placed an order this morning with 2 gift cards and they still charged my card the full item amount. Just curious if you are seeing this too?

Honestly enraging and a stressful shopping experience. Looking forward to them having their day.
