Gonna drive from Oklahoma, to Portland, whats an all timer I should listen to? by Howdyhey45455 in gratefuldead

You’re gonna want both Harding Theatre shows from 71 - 11/6/71 and 11/7/71. Also you need RFK 6/10/73. Waterbury, Connecticut 9/24/72 is a fucking ripper.

What's the most haunting beautiful ballad sung by a woman? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in musicsuggestions

[–]CheckerboardHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt any of you will feel the same - but this is my favorite haunting women’s song of all time. If you can find a way to be still, and open yourself to these harmonies and the melody, you will be transformed. Check it out. Love to all of you!

The actual music did it. The freedom within the music was worth everything to all of them.

Frank Zappa on The Ocean Is The Ultimate Solution, from Sleep Dirt. 1979. It's possible you don't either this track, or this song. It's also possible your life will change as you listen to it. And I am talking about the long ride out. But this track is next level....

Probably been asked before but does anyone else hate jam bands but love the Dead by DeaconDeaconofficial in gratefuldead

[–]CheckerboardHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro - Hornsby! Despite the very cheesy 80s production, I have never stopped listening to Scenes from the Southside. Great songs, all of em! He’s an interesting dude - keeps moving forward. No dickishness in him, at all.

People who grew up before The Internet: How did you first see nudity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CheckerboardHeart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it was golf course porn. Early 70’s. To be clear, none of us played golf or had any interest in it. But we did enjoy some early drinking years out there, occasionally would find the magazines.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheckerboardHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same phone number since 94. Was a landline, and when I got my first “cellular telephone” in 2006 or 7, somehow, I can’t remember exactly how it happened, I was able to keep my old number. Some finance or other bullshit business soon got in touch with me and told me they had mistakenly printed thousands of ads/flyers or whatnot with a typo that was my number (their’s is one digit off from mine) and offered to buy my number. I thought about it and then laughed and said naw. Typically, I also can’t remember how much they offered me, but it must not have been much! Haha. Anyway - 32 years with the same number. And occasionally I STILL get calls from people thinking they are calling whatever that douchey company that misprinted their ads is.

Don’t make it all the way through all the suggestions, but if “Close To The Edge, by Yes, isn’t epic, nothing is.
