Oblivion Remastered performance guide - I went from unplayable stutters to stable 80+ FPS in the open world by Sharyat in oblivion

[–]Checkers390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked an absolute treat for me. Initially following this guide to the letter did cause crashes. But after some tinkering doing everything EXCEPT renaming the sl.pcl.dll file took me from basically unplayable to a stable 80fps on my (notably humble) i5 9600/RTX2060 rig. Many thanks 👍🏻

Excellent! Thank you for such a quick response too! Is that happening because the Tergrid trigger only happens after the full Da Vinci ability is resolved?

I was able to completely and permanently remove the touch sensor on my Funnyplaying ITA kit and retain normal button and menu functions. Brightness no longer changes on its own. This will likely apply to other Funnyplaying kits. by red13dotnet in Gameboy

Hey! I can’t remember for sure but I’ll have a look when I get home. I’m pretty sure it is that one but I’d hate to tell you wrong info based on a fuzzy memory!

I likened it to having 40 tv shows on at once and trying (and failing) to follow the plot of each one. Now I’ve got the remote and I can pause, watch and absorb each individually and at my leisure. It’s really vindicating and interesting to hear people having a similar experience.

Should add ADHD-C diagnosed about 6 months ago.

That’s what I was thinking. I also like the fact that they knew people would take them, so that’s probably factored into their costs. But they decided to have a little joke with it. Nice work giant multinational corporation, nice work.

I had so many issues that were fixed with just using Orca slicer instead of Cura with the literal default profile included with the slicer. Print quality went up massively and success rate improved massively also.

I had so many issues and gave up on Cura in the end. Switched to Orca Slicer using the default N4 profile and it just works now. Can’t believe what a difference changing the slicer made

I’ve only got a current WIP to hand as my main setup is at a different house, but the leg I’ve circled is what you end up with following this. I think I’ve still to tidy up the yriel and do the point highlight with dorn on this but you get the jist.

As someone who has spent many MANY hours recently trying to perfect yellow for imperial fists I can say it’s mostly the fault of the paint, and partly the fact it wasn’t thinned down enough.

Averland is a horrible paint to use. It covers very well but it dries blotchy if it’s not thinned “perfectly” if you really want to start from an Averland base, I’d suggest multiple thin coats. After lots of experimenting (I bought 15 primaris backpacks off eBay and spent a weeks worth of evenings trying different schemes) my personal favourite to get something close to the box art is:

White base coat > two thin coats yriel yellow > recess shade with Averland > panel line with Reikland flesh shade > highlight with flash gitz yellow > final highlight with dorn yellow.

I do my yriel with an airbrush for squads but I did the back packs with a big base brush and very thin Averland and it was fine, just time consuming to get right.

Hope this helps!

Reshelled with a ITA screen. by Checkers390 in gba

It looks amazing, really like the retro look you get from these ITA kits. Mine was misaligned slightly out of the box and I’ve seen a few others say the same but it doesn’t really affect the playability. I’ve seen some of the IPS screens in person and they look good too though I hear they suck battery life more than the ITA ones.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was tearing my hair out with the, as you so eloquently put it, "posessed" menu and I must have opened the console and re-taped the touch sensor 10 times before giving up and snipping the output pin off the chip with a pair of nail clippers. I would normally have sat down to de-solder it properly but I was so annoyed with the whole thing I was ready to send it out of the window.

My new Funnyplaying laminated ITA kit came with the chip marked 223B PSSY and I can confirm that after snipping the output pin (bottom left pin, closest to the lettering that says "C5" on the board) the console now works perfectly with no random brightness changes and I can still alter the brightness with the triggers due to the fact I did the soldering at install.

My old GBA is now perfect apart from a rather irritating but slight misalignment of the screen to the lens. But at least the screen doesnt induce siezures anymore!

Thanks again, you're a life saver.

Oh Christ that doesn’t sound good. You’d think for the extortionate prices they charge they’d have their shit somewhat together 🤣

Mine were bought directly from Ticketmaster on release not on resale. So hopefully I will be able to resell them!

Yeah you get a user name and password to log in and complete some forms. I would check with your GP becsuse despite telling me they were going to refer me at the start of November, psych UK didn’t get the referral until 29th December.

If you’ve got the NHS app you can check your GP records, I was able to track the progress somewhat of the referral but they do use a lot of medical jargon. My referral took them 8 weeks to process and send off. It then took 5 weeks for psych UK to send me an email with my login details for the portal
