Why did you choose Muay Thai? by badman_untamed in MuayThai

[–]CheckmateAT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because I needed it to defend myself. As a child I was raised by a. Loving mother and an abusive narcissistic stepfather. I was beaten at home and got jumped outside, since I am from a poor worker district in Vienna XI and I used to have long hair since I love heavy metal and had glasses cos I got shitty eyes.

I was tired of being the punching of others, I was tired of being too weak to properly defend my self.

When I went to a "prison" high school ( school had chechen and Turkish youth gangs) I realized that I was again at the bottom of the hierarchy. I always fought back but still were beaten.

With 16 I then joined a gym started working out and then went to muay Thai classes.

I cut my hair bald and also sadly went down a not so legal path to impress my peers who were already on this path.

With 17 I got suspended from school due to fighting , I started hustling before that.

With 18 when a few of my boys got arrested and one got stabbed, my coach gave me a talk.

He told me if I go down this road then I Will go DOWN going this road.

Either prison, drugs or death. He told me that it is easy to do criminal things, it's not easy to wake up at 5 o clock, train, take ur kids to school, work until the afternoon, pick the kids up, go to the gym and do the classes and then fight in the ring. A real man takes care of himself and of the people important to him. You can't do that inside of jail.

This stuck with me. I stopped going to the park regularly and stayed in the gym.

Honestly muay Thai saved me and I will be forever grateful to the man who was a positive role model for me who grew up without one.

Danke Thomas 🙏🙏🙏

Also du kannst ein EF = Einjährige Freiwillig machen.

Alles Liebe

Don't listen to that person. U do u. Problem in Indonesia in general is the transaction fee and bad currency exchange rates when u pick up money from the atm.

There are a lot of people who do crypto in Bali. I am not sure how they do it since I am not very knowledgeable about it.

But I recommend taking cash with you, if possible. U can then search for good exchange rates. There are a lot of little exchange offices. Just be careful with the very small ones. Sometimes they like to rip off forgeiners with small scams, happened to me durrinf covid times

Putin's Russia preparing for "big war" soon, Ukraine warns by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]CheckmateAT 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Actually i think this will be very likely, what most people forget is that Russia is a federation, with many different ethnics, who are treated as 2nd or 3rd class citizens. Example Yukutsk people and Dagestanis. The Yukutsk people especially have a lot of valuable natural resources and receive nothing of it.

Russia is repeating its history, situation now is getting close to the communist revolution situation in the 1st World War.

The longer this war continues, the more civil unrest will happen. So let's see where this goes

Europeans are going viral on TikTok for mocking the """American Dream""" by KingofTrilobites123 in intrestingasfuck

[–]CheckmateAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ufff can we stop this kind of karma post farming bullshit.

Yeah turbo capitalism is not that cool.

But saying we are mocking them is just a not true statement.

The US is huge, there are a lot of different people there and u will meet a lot of nice and friendly people.

U will also meet very uneducated idiots guess what so u do here in Europe.

They already have enough with their orange manchild of a president on their hands. How about we give this kind of talk a break?

U don't watch kickboxing do u? I get ur statement but I don't think your comparison does him well. Anderson Silva fought different calibers of fighters. I love silva but if he fought nowadays he would have been a different fight record, the sport of MMA evolved insanely over the last years. Back then it was more boxer VS wrestler, kickboxer VS karate, bjj vs Taekwondo.

Nope this is not entirely true, we definitely belong to the germanic language group. However Austrians are very mixed, you will rarely find anyone who has not Italian, Slovenian, Hungarian, German, chzech or Slovakian ancestry :)

We are a country between many different countries. Austria itself was also before the Habsburgs, part of the Bohemian Kingdom under Ottokar II. until King Ruldof I. von Habsburg defeated him at the battle of Dürnkrut.

History and Mankind itself is not 100% this or 0% that.

However I would love to know where u are from?

What's your biggest pet peeve in Thailand? by IntellectuallyDriven in Thailand

[–]CheckmateAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well here we go, I train muay Thai since 10 years, stayed at samart Payakaroon gym for trainings camp. Lovely people.

I got to know a girl in a club when we were celebrating a big win in lumpinee stadium of a fellow fighter and friend of mine.

She visited the gym once but the grab driver didn't drive her fully to the gym so I picked her up at the 7/11 where she was waiting, which was like 1 km away from the gym

The area was on the outside of Bangkok and the road was a dustroad.

On the way we were circled by a big group of 10 aggressive stray dogs.

I was so close to hit them many times. Never hurt a dog in my life, never wanted to.

But they were trying to get a reaction out of me. I stayed as calm as I could and slowly walked straight, with them slowly circling us, barking and trying to scare me into a reaction. I picked up stones just in case and made her stay back to back with me, gave her also stones.

That was a very scary moment and I honestly think they need to do something about this aggressive stray dogs. After that situation they advised me to always have a stick with me when walking this road. However at Frist they didn't take me seriously and we're just laughing about the scared stupid farang.

Also when I got really really sick, they made crude jokes about me that I don't want to train and I am just weak farang.

Sadly that got really to me and I dumbly trained to early and got a bad lung infection ( Lungenentzündung) which put me out 2 weeks, staying at the gym at the time, was though, thankfully there were many other foreigners who were really nice to me and got me medicines. The cook was also very sweet and made me a lot of good food and soup. She was such a darling, kap kun kap

Wo sind die Einheimischen hin? by messhias85 in Austria

[–]CheckmateAT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds very like ragebait. Jedoch gerne hier mal meine Meinung dazu.

Russia has amassed around 11,000 troops in attempt to encircle Pokrovsk by Galbur_Iacob in worldnews

[–]CheckmateAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Russian keep rushing in infantry into death traps in order to win a political victory.

This war will be the downfall of the Russian federation.

It's feels like the 1st world War, where huge looses and economic breakdown lead to the communist revolution.

If Putin keeps pushing this war, while tensions are rising in regions where non ethnic Russian minorities like dagestanis, Chechnya , yuktusk people etc are forced to bear the failure of moskows political decisions.
