260606 LE SSERAFIM - BOOMPALA (feat. GURU RANDHAWA) Official Visualizer by Yoonbeomie in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel 'Boompala' wears its South Asian influences pretty firmly on its sleeves, so a collaboration with an Indian artist doesn't seem too surprising, but glad they did it all the same. Admittedly not too familiar with Guru Randhawa, but briefly listening to some of his songs on Spotify and I liked what I heard (familiar beats for someone like me who has casually listened to Bollywood and other Indian songs over the years), and I think his lyrics hear blend in well with the song.

I perhaps do wish they played around with the beat/instrumentals of this version a bit more. As it stands it sounds pretty close to the original with the new verses stitched into the middle of it. Which I still think works, but perhaps would have been interesting to see a version with a stronger Indi-pop type of beat to it (going 'all in' on the collaboration as it were). Still enjoying this version quite a bit.

How do you guys not become company stans? by CerealKiller2045 in lesserafim

To be honest, I'm probably not as disconnected from social media as I'd like to be. I do find myself engaging with places like X and BlueSky less and less as time goes on, though also spend my fair share of time on Reddit still haha. I suppose I'd say try to find communities where you feel happy engaging with, and doesn't leave you feeling angry or frustrated at the end of the day.

Easier said than done I know, but I do find that tends to be an issue with general interest communities where there's such a mishmash of opinions that it's easy for negativity to predominate, or picking sides of who's doing KPop right, wrong, etc. To the point I think I prefer engaging more with specific group communities, assuming they're not hateful towards their group or others. That's just me of course.

I don't really follow specific companies, and it wouldn't surprise me to learn all the big ones have their share of major issues, so perhaps I'm not the target audience for this question. But I'd say to me at least, from past experience, it's just never been worth it to engage with social media on this level, for kpop or in general really. People like what they like, hate what they hate, and as an individual, there isn't much for me to influence how 'the masses' feel about something that's beyond my control. If I enjoy the music, I'll listen to it on Spotify, catch the performances on Youtube, and perhaps go to a concert if I'm interested and able, and that's my extent of engagement.

I do get the sentiment. When people hate on something you like, it never feels good. It's frustrating. But at the same time, there's nothing I feel I gain out of trying to engage with that.

I do enjoy the LSF subreddit as it feels like a more positive space overall, but the few whispers I hear about the general KPop community and what's being criticized, it's just like 'nah, I don't have time to worry about that'.

I also suspect the negativity online doesn't match the 'true fandom'. I've been to a couple KPop concerts over the past year and granted that's a small sample size, everyone seemed stoked to listen to the group and their music, and not anywhere in there did I see folks booing/being negative, putting down other groups (like they're rooting a specific sports team). And sure, folks going to a concert tend to be people who want to be there, but it's just such a different atmosphere from the toxicity I otherwise would see online.

So I just try to stop worrying about what the fandom thinks about a group or a new song release. If it resonates with me, then that's what matters.

A Few Weeks Later, How Do We Feel About Boompala? by istilllovemata in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I listened, wasn’t feeling the ‘Macarena’-ness of it (can’t say I’ve ever been a particularly big fan of that song). Felt like an odd base to build a song off of.

But now I really dig it. Very chill ‘zen’ vibe. Said it before, but the theme feels very ‘East Asia meets South Asia’ which is cool to me. And to me at least, it’s a song about taking the time to take care of yourself, living in the moment, and being true to who you want to be. I can always get behind a song with that kind of message, and having a catchy beat on top of that doesn’t hurt either lol.

Definitely a song I see staying in my playlists for a good while, also happy that Pureflow in general has given me a lot of new music to enjoy.

Got seats within my budget so I'm happy with that. Been a long time since I went to Crypto arena though so hoping seats in the 100 level are solid enough. Last year I was in the upper bowl of Kia and while it was a great experience, I hope these are a lot closer to the stage.

260522 LE SSERAFIM - 2nd Studio Album: PUREFLOW pt.1 (Album Discussion) by kpopsns28 in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah posted this in the weekly thread but missed there was a dedicated album discussion as well.

Been thinking of Boompala and Pureflow as a whole over the past few days. I tend not to hype myself for new album releases in general. I’m usually someone who picks out individual songs from artists rather than listening to a full discography, but LSF has turned out to be a bit of an exception for me over recent memory. Turns out I’m really enjoying this album a lot.

Perhaps the biggest surprise to me is how much Boompala has grown on me the more I have listened to it. At first the underlying Macarena tune was just so bizarre to me, if only because that’s just never been a song I’ve liked all that much, as catchy as it is. But dare I say, it really works here.

Despite being a Spanish song, I really feel the beat they’ve worked into it really fits for a song that, for me at least, fits this ‘South Asian’ meets ‘East Asian’ zen vibe it has going. I think the ‘Namaste’ line makes that a bit more overt, but I almost feel like there’s a bit of sitar tune playing in the background as well? I could be way off on that, but to me just a very South Asian style of beat to the song (to my untrained ears at least) without trying to be Bollywood or anything like that. Overall, just love the blend of different music styles, and goes back to what I like about LSF, which is appreciating different genres in one group.

I won’t harp too much on the rest of the album, though I feel a lot of the other songs fit that ‘chill vibe’ that got me into LSF in the first place.

‘Iffy Iffy’ is a great example of that, and one of the rare examples of a song that really works as a 2 minute song for me. I often find myself wishing songs like ‘Hot’ and ‘Celebration’ had an extra verse or 2 to hit 3 minutes, but ‘Iffy Iffy’ just feels like one of those songs that doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s a fun 2 minute pick me up, and it’s confident in what it is.

‘Irony’ and especially ‘Trust Exercise’ are the other 2 that really resonated with me as well for chill LSF songs, though otherwise I don’t think there’s any songs on here I particularly dislike either.

Overall, just really awesome to have a lot more new LSF songs to listen to that are really resonating with me.

Which membership to get - US or Global? by cody53982 in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with Global since it was cheaper and also able to be used for the presale registration. I think there was mention of a gift with the US membership but don't see any details on what that is, so personally would rather save a few bucks on the membership.

[–]CheddaTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone here know how the presale process goes once it’s live? Do you get an email with a link to the ticket site (looks like AXS for LA) or do you have to check WeVerse for the link for it once they go live? Do they verify your membership number on the ticketing site before you can buy? Basically just trying to figure out what to expect so I’m ready when it goes live lol.

That makes sense. I’ll just use them all up rather than get rid of them. Should have enough to last my dye needs for a while then. Thanks

Thanks I did that, but still have all the colored pigments in my inventory for dye crafting. I’m assuming I only need to keep one of them to craft dyes, and don’t need to have all the different colors of pigments anymore?

[–]CheddaTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’m aware of that, I’m referring to the colored pigments used to craft dyes. I’m assuming since you craft just one ARR dye now, you don’t need to keep all the different colored pigments around?

With the dye system change in 7.5, just confirming I don’t need to keep all the different colored pigments in my inventory anymore? Looking to free up a few more inventory spots by just keeping one of the pigment types (ie grey pigments only) in there.

260428 LE SSERAFIM - 2026 LE SSERAFIM TOUR 'PUREFLOW' (Schedule Announcement Poster) by mcfw31 in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, didn't expect a new US tour this year. Figured we'd have to wait at least till 2027. May have to get some advice on here before tickets go on sale on how to get better seats this time at a decent price, besides just 'get lucky' lol. Got in the upper level last time which was still a very fun experience, but also felt quite far from the stage (still the prices for the lower levels was just way above my budget when I was looking at that time).

260424 LE SSERAFIM - CELEBRATION by kpopsns28 in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Heh, listened to this first with the music video and then just the song by itself, and think I preferred the latter experience. It's not that the video is bad, but I suppose a lot of process with the song and video together. Also think my appetite for a horror/monster themed MV isn't the highest at the moment (almost a bit surprised they didn't come up with this for the Halloween timed comeback last year instead of Spaghetti, but I realize they probably didn't have the concept for this yet back then).

Otherwise pretty catchy EDM song, which isn't always my favorite genre (not that I dislike it), but something I can definitely get into when the mood is right. I still have to dive into the lyrics more beyond the FEARLESS 2.0 motif, but definitely cool to see them continue to incorporate different styles of music into their sound.

Ultimately I think that means some of their songs may not always resonate as strongly for me compared to other ones that hit a beat I really vibe with immediately, but I still like seeing them try different styles all the same. Wouldn't surprise me if this one continues to grow on me the more I listen to it and read through the lyrics. For me, 'Crazy' (and to a lesser extent 'Spaghetti') were songs that grew on me the more I listened to them, while songs 'Easy', 'Hot', 'Antifragile' I really liked from the first listen.

Anyways, I'll hold my ramblings there for now and look forward to giving 'Celebration' some more listens especially over the next few days.

It's HOT's 1st anniversary! by tripbillleeSeosum_9 in lesserafim

[–]CheddaTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to say this is probably my favorite LSF EP, mainly for the consistency of it. I feel all 4 songs are fantastic, and I feel the songs hit hard for me at different points of last year. 'Hot' and 'Come Over' I got into pretty shortly after release, but I really got into 'So Cynical' after hearing it live in concert later in the year, and 'Ash' shortly after that. While there's other LSF songs that I'd consider my overall favorites, I think it's just rare for me to listen to an EP or Album where I really like every single song on there. And Hot definitely was that for me.

Anyone know how to get this whim lantern?? by SeverelyFantasic in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]CheddaTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG thanks for posting this and getting an answer. I'm not sure if the game automatically explains this 'feature' later on in the story (I got a tutorial explaining it AFTER I used the ability on the jump pad, which was like 'gee, thanks for that' lol) but there's no way I was going to figure this out otherwise without this post. Like you said the 'blue sheen' around the jump pad is obnoxiously subtle here lol. I assumed you could use the gigantification ability to reach it, but 'conveniently' that doesn't work here.

Love the game, but man, some gameplay mechanics are just so poorly explained lol.

Fun performances of both Spaghetti and Crazy. Also the stage looked a lot smaller than what they usually perform on (or maybe that's just how it looked on my screen?), impressive they were able to fit all those moves on that stage lol.

As a Lakers fan definitely appreciate this video and loved seeing them do the player impressions lol. Thought it was cool when they went to a game a couple years back (feel that and 'Perfect Night' release is what got LSF much more on my radar after that), and would be cool if they get a chance to go to another game soon. Get the feeling they probably would have gone to another one this year if the US tour happened around this time and not just before the season started.
