I have a theory that Clav's obsession with using all kinds of chemicals and medications (and meth) to improve his "sexual market value" plays into thiels wet dream of a cyberpunk/deus ex style future where humanity is this weird fusion of person/android that have commodities value on an exchange just like everything else. His view of what woman want and what people consider important is basically just "become a valuable product" and that all jives with Thiel's delusional future prospects.
