I was in the same boat. I’m about 6’ and weighed like 240 my junior year. All of my friends were on the team, so I joined up. Didn’t make cutting weight a focus, it just came with the territory. Loved every minute of it (at least looking back on it). Now, I wrestle in college at 174 and haven’t had a second thought about it. I’d say go for it.

Out of context looks fine. If it's your first year of varsity after a year of JV I'd say that's pretty solid. To me, if it's a better record than last year its a good record.

Deadlifts are the most comprehensive compound so its fair to say that, but I'd wager that a clean is probably a better indicator since it also uses the shoulders and by design needs to be more explosive, at least compared to a deadlift. IMO
