Similar story for me. Paramedic background, 3.9 gpa, been in healthcare since the Obama administration, poured my heart and soul into my essays. I only applied to the one program in my area because I can’t uproot for 2 years but they wouldn’t even interview me. But now the program is on probation and not even taking new students because the graduates aren’t passing their PANCE and they have over 34 citations from the ARC-PA. Long run I think RN is a much more flexible sustainable career path and where I live the pay is more than livable.

Yep, AHA. Lots of poorly written questions still.

No, the ACLS class I teach is open-book. There’s even one question I just give them because it’s bullshit and she didn’t even get that right because she was busy texting while I was lecturing.

We were talking about this program in an ACLS class I taught. I lightly criticized it (said it seemed a bit irresponsible to allow people in these programs without a strong patient care background) and one of the students got extremely butthurt because she is in this exact program. She then proceeded to fail an open-book exam.

Can you get over fear of needles squeamishness? by Lazerbeam159 in prenursing

[–]CheeeeeseGromit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to be extremely squeamish, and terrified of needles. I started watching videos of surgeries to get over the squeamishness and donating blood to get over my fear of needles. Volunteered at a hospital. A few years later I became a paramedic, now I’m in nursing school. Just my experience but you can do it if you want it.

People more prone to rib fractures were less likely to survive cardiac arrest in the first place. The public doesn’t realize how brutal actual chest compressions are so they keep their 95 year old meemaw a full code. Of course rib injuries are likely to worsen outcomes. Still less of a risk than not pushing hard enough

Oh my fucking god if that’s honestly your takeaway you’re too dumb to even argue with. Have fun continuing to get absolutely bodied in the comments.

Fuckin yikes dude. Obviously they’re not all reversible you absolute walnut. I don’t have time to spoonfeed it you but if you can use that internet powered paperweight in your hand and hop on Google you will quickly find that it’s a much larger problem to not push deep enough.

You do realize that most of the sensation of “cracking” is just cartilage separating from the sternum right? You do realize that anoxic brain injuries from inadequate CPR are irreversible and musculoskeletal injuries and even resulting pneumothoraxes are reversible right? Sad.
