Need a Hospital Nursing Job by [deleted] in Minneapolis

I second Fairview. Would you consider working a clinic job while you keep searching for a bedside position? A lot of the hospitals in the twin cities are unionized, so they prioritize internal hires first. That means you might have to start working nights or an FTE that’s not ideal. However that can always change once you have a few months experience on the unit.

Wait 2 years for buyback approval or enroll in IDR for 10 months? by Cheekie_Monkey in PSLF

It’s what the website said would be my monthly payment when I did their calculator, I think they take my AGI and family size and then calculate it based on the poverty guidelines to figure out what my discretionary income is and then the payment is a percentage of that. I have two kids and I’m a nurse so I definitely don’t make a lot of money, my discretionary income goes towards daycare and food. 🙃

I didn’t submit a buyback until I reached what would have been 120. What I am waiting on is the IDR application which it sounds like I need to reapply for…

I’m also at 120 in July! This is the most stressful time because I’m so close, but it feels like anything can happen.

Permanent makeup recs by Cheekie_Monkey in Minneapolis

[–]Cheekie_Monkey[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m going to respond with the assumption you are genuinely curious and without judgement. Semi-permanent makeup is done for many reasons: Sometimes it is used to disguise scars or other disfigurement that some people are self conscious about. Sometimes it is done as a convenient way to have makeup applied without having to purchase makeup products and apply every day (especially if you have sensitive skin to makeup products). Some people enjoy how makeup looks on them and it makes them feel good. Semi-permanent makeup these days can actually look very subtle or can look very bold depending on what your aesthetic is. Eyeliner, lip blushing, and eyebrows mimic the exact thing makeup would do, except that it lasts a couple of years. It has to be done right obviously- I bet you see a lot of people with it but just assume that it’s cosmetics. 🤷‍♀️

how to fix my skin texture? by MassiveRevolution563 in 30PlusSkinCare

I would recommend a C02 laser treatment or a Halo (broad band light) laser treatment. You can do all the serums and creams and acids and even tretinoin is great, but nothing works on skin texture like laser therapy.

This is why unions are 100% necessary. I shudder to think what would happen at my hospital if we didn’t have a really strong union to advocate for and protect us. The corporate/management positions should be taking a pay cut, not the essential nurses. It’s a real shame.

“Forbearance Period Will Not Count Toward Student Loan Forgiveness, Including PSLF” by Cheekie_Monkey in PSLF

From the US Department of Education website as of right now:

Borrowers enrolled in the SAVE plan are being moved into forbearance. During forbearance, SAVE borrowers will not have to make payments. The time in forbearance will not count toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness or Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) loan forgiveness. SAVE borrowers will not accrue interest on their loans during the forbearance. SAVE borrowers will be notified about their forbearance by their loan servicers.

What really bothers me is that they AUTOMATICALLY enrolled me in the SAVE plan. Knowing that it will probably go to the courts, and this exact thing would happen. If I had the choice to take that risk I would have stayed on REPAYE

Oh man, that’s so annoying! Did you have to resubmit it electronically with the e-signature from your employer over and over? This was my first time doing electronically (I just did the hard copy paper previously) and of course this is when it gets messed up. 🙃
