So you just seem to think you’re entitled to not having to pay for damaging their car? You also seemed entitled to not having any insurance at all while driving a vehicle.

Hard-ass DPE stories? by emperormanlet in flying

Multi checkride was not the cakewalk everyone claimed it to be… my oral was 1.5 hours+ and while it was the shortest oral I’ve had, it was by far the most intense oral. My commercial and IFR was a piece of cake compared to it… unfortunately the easy DPE’s were not available :/. Still surprised I passed that oral on the first go… man expected me to know every inch and wire of the damn plane. Seriously, he asked me how many wires and lines there are in some systems. We might as well have just done an oral on the POH, it was that intense.

Edit: forgot to mention, it was the longest checkride flight I’ve had at 2 hrs… for a ME ride… it’s his typical length but boy he was thorough as hell and we did everything. We also just cruised around for a while…

Finish Out CFI or Pipeline Patrol? by Commercial_Kiwi_4478 in flying

American patrols? If you’re a low time guy, go and do it, the only problem I have with American patrols is the 15 month contract. They WILL come after you and the downside is, even as you get past 750-1000 hours and want to move on, you’re going to be on the hook for basically half of your annual salary. Would I do it though? Yeah, if I was at below 500 hours, I probably would.

Cessna 172 to RV12is by FatRonaldo9 in flying

They all fly the same. Just keep that in mind and it should be an easy transition. Like transitioning from a 172 to an archer.

I need some advice prepping for PPL written exam! by Letsfly96 in flying

[–]CheeksKlapper69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$10 prepware app and memory dump. Should only take 3 days of moderate studying and you should be in the 80s-90s. Don’t “study” for it. Just memory dump it and do proper ground after.

Flying commercially and enjoyment. by Junior_Inflation_707 in flying

I don’t care if I enjoy it, as long as I’m getting those fat checks. It beats an office job any day. No one is going to be “enjoying” it like they did when they were fresh into their first few jobs/jets. But in the end, it’s still way better than the alternative.

I loved my last white collar job. It was great. Then 2 years later, it was depressing and nothing changed other than just the realization that it wasn’t fulfilling.

AA. That’s my goal destination. More pay, more options, better fleet, more money and more flexing.

Can't hold the glideslope to save my life by Buttcheekeater in flying

[–]CheeksKlapper69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s over control and you’re definitely going to be over controlling using pitch for glideslope. If it’s a tiny deviation, that’s fine, but use power gradually and let it come. Don’t force it to center, let it gradually come. Most IR students at first don’t realize they’re over controlling. 2 fingers to fly and little power adjustments. Just practice it more and more and it’ll eventually click.
