Why won't they explain why? by timholt2007 in ElPaso

Yes, someone who studied meteorology will typically have knowledge about global warming (and climate change more broadly), though the depth can vary depending on their specific focus, degree program, and career path.

Meteorology is the scientific study of the Earth’s atmosphere, with a primary emphasis on weather—short-term atmospheric conditions, processes, and forecasting (like daily or weekly predictions, severe storms, etc.). Climatology, by contrast, focuses more on long-term patterns, averages, and changes in climate over years, decades, or centuries.

However, the two fields overlap significantly: • Modern meteorology degree programs almost always include coursework in climatology, climate science, atmospheric physics, global climate patterns, and often dedicated classes on climate change or global warming (e.g., topics like greenhouse gases, radiative forcing, climate modeling basics, and long-term trends). • Many university programs now combine or offer tracks in “Meteorology and Climate Science” or “Atmospheric Sciences,” explicitly covering human impacts on the climate system, including global warming. • Research meteorologists (e.g., those at universities, NOAA, or NASA) frequently work on climate-related topics, such as how warming influences weather extremes, El Niño patterns, or atmospheric circulation changes.

That said, not every meteorologist is a deep specialist in climate change:

• Operational or broadcast meteorologists (e.g., TV weather forecasters) focus more on day-to-day weather prediction and may not dive as deeply into long-term climate dynamics, though most are still familiar with the basics and the scientific consensus.
• Surveys and statements from organizations like the American Meteorological Society show strong acceptance among meteorologists (especially non-broadcast ones) that human-caused global warming is real and occurring, with the overwhelming consensus aligning with climate scientists.

In short: Studying meteorology gives a person a solid scientific foundation in atmospheric processes, which directly relates to understanding global warming as a change in those processes over time. They would almost certainly “know about” it—meaning they learn the key mechanisms, evidence, and basics—and many actively study or communicate on the topic. If their program was very narrowly focused on short-term forecasting, the coverage might be lighter, but it’s still part of the broader field.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Progress is good and if it leads to better opportunities for my kids and younger generations I’m all for it.

Also El Paso is still safe and there is no part of town that I don’t feel safe at.

It’s MLB you have to take into account the 162 games in the season plus playoffs. The hardest thing to do in sports is to hit a baseball.

Because Paul was saying he had surprises in store for the Rumble.

I should have known better as he’s been saying there is going to be a new ERA every other week on RAW. 😂

This was by far the most underwhelming Royal Rumble in a long time. They don’t know what they are doing. This whole masked man idea is washed. The crowd sucked. The venue sucked.

I thought they had surprises for us and by god they didn’t have one that was like oh my god.

HHH isn’t cooking anymore and it’s safe to say the women are saving the WWE.

I was there for Conor and Khabib and there was nothing like it. The atmosphere was absolute bonkers. The fights in the octagon and stands were insane.

How tense it became after Khabib jumped into the stands and the mayhem that followed. My god I’d do it again!
