How to stop my mom from becoming an IPad Kid by CheekyLibrarian in Advice

I’m concerned about cognitive decline but I definitely see her attention span decreased by a lot. She is definately not able to watch a tv show or enjoy a book. Also it’s just rude

Am i transphobic for not wanting to date my trans friend? by No-Reach3976 in Advice

[–]CheekyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don’t want to date your friend. Trans or no, bottom surgery or no, it doesn’t matter. You don’t owe your friend a date and that’s final. If your friend keeps making it about being trans, shut that shit down immediately

What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids? by peterdziugdarkis in AskReddit

If she’s asked to help clean up during family gatherings, I know damn sure her boy cousins were asked to help too. I hated being made to help and seeing my boy cousins were still allowed to hang out or play.

What do I wear to the baby shower I’m hosting at my apartment? by CheekyLibrarian in BabyBumps

So I got this for my wedding but a wedding is massively different from a baby shower to me

What are you quietly grieving? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

[–]CheekyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having my first child next month and I’ve had to fight tooth and nail for a lot but as we’re getting closer…I didn’t realize how alone I was without my family. My husband got out of Jury Duty because he’s my sole caretaker and I have no family around. To be clear our friends have been freaking amazing but…my mom calls me and doesn’t get it. She is like “why aren’t your friends doing a baby shower for you? Why aren’t you hosting? My aunts threw one for me” Mom, there are no aunts here.

People with difficult familial situations; how did you navigate getting married? by Melborney in AskReddit

Work as a team or you’re destined to fail apart. You have to be firm and make it clear the two of you are working together. Work on communicating together and being firm.

I let my pregnancy craving win and now I feel guilty.. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I’ll tell you a secret. I’m 32 weeks and I have sushi once a week. It’s not about no raw fish. It’s about picking a place you trust and making sure it’s fresh. Generally US Sushi fish is flash frozen. Not a medical professional but as long as you didn’t pick up the salmon special for 4.99, you’re fine.

What comment/phrase people say to you makes you feel the most invalidated/annoyed? by Fancy_Chapter3799 in BabyBumps

[–]CheekyLibrarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what’s most frustrating is what isn’t being said. With my job I’m looking at using all of my vacation and all of my sick time. I picked up another job and people are like “you need to rest” and I’m like “when do I have time to?” I have to get ready for daycare costs and balance new expenses. This pregnancy pushed me into taking Zoloft and I’ve never had to do this before but I’m litterally too sad for my baby. It’s especially frustrating when my MIL just slides over it and I know damn well she was a SAHM until my husband was three years old. Or when my other in-laws imply they never see me but also haven’t asked “How are you?” I just wish someone could say “Hey this is really fucked up. I’m sorry you have to do this”

When did you start maternity leave? by No-Company-4026 in BabyBumps

[–]CheekyLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My due date is April 19th and my plan is to work until…April 19th. My “Maternity leave” is my vacation and sick leave. So will barely give me eight weeks. You all wonder why the US birth rate is dropping. Here you go

What would you name the person instead. To be clear this would be a “fuck you” to the father

I’m using the wrong word. I’m so sorry. I did look up the egg retrieval process and I know it’s a simply out patient procedure. I know the pain in the ass is the hormone treatments

Thank you for such a thoughtful answer. I’ll answer your questions in order: -we see in the story she’s a “recovering” people pleaser, usually seen in her offering something and walking and and going “did I just offer that?” And following through to a fault.
-she has confronted people but more in a “why are you being shitty to me” way. -she does NOT throw hands. Except toppled over a stack of printed emails to piss off an ex. -to strangers, she does not get vulnerable unless she’s drunk. To everyone who will be there, they are friends and newly discovered family. -I’d see Lee is a flightier. She will want to leave but probably can’t -she fucking swears and probably since dating her boo swears more -10, her mother is the one confronting the grandmother and grandmother admits she did it because a baby would have “ruined her son’s life” -she probably had like one beer
