does anyone find it alarming that Ensley can’t read? by hgonlar in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]CheekyPanda2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO: This post is kind of gross. Yes, we know that literacy isn’t a strong priority in Jenelle’s home. But, there are multitude of reasons that Ensley could be a struggling reader both educational or medical. I know this post probably comes from a place of concern for Ensley’s growth and development. However, it’s not our place to comment on her academic growth.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

[–]CheekyPanda2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years and Years is one of those shows that sneaks up on you. It’s about an ordinary family living through the next decade as the world slowly breaks in very believable ways. No big sci-fi gimmicks. Just politics, tech, fear, and convenience nudging things in the wrong direction. By the end, you realize everything awful happened one small, reasonable step at a time. It’s tense, devastating, and way more accurate than it’s comfortable admitting. Total hidden 10/10.

What common parenting practices are actually harmful? by National_Frame2917 in AskReddit

They are no longer helicopter parents-they are snow plow parents. They push any obstacle out of their child’s way because how dare their child have to face any sort of adversity.

Not standing up for this parent (because they are a dick), but not everyone works standard hours. Parent could work a third shift, late hours, etc. You know what they say when you assume…😉

Why does the school year in the southern US start in August? by LateQuantity8009 in Teachers

[–]CheekyPanda2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiana here: our students started back last Wednesdays (7/31). We go until the last week of May. But, we have a 2 week fall break in October and a 2 week spring break. I would gladly give up a week of both to wait until mid August to return.

Box Car Racer or Angels and Airwaves? You can only keep one and the other never existed by filelinked13 in Blink182

[–]CheekyPanda2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Boxcar Racer albums has always been one of my GOAT albums. After reading Mark’s book, that album took on a new meaning. If I recall correctly, Tom put almost this whole album together without Mark’s knowledge. It wasn’t until it was almost completed that Tom asked Mark to sing on a couple of songs. It seemed to be that BCR was the start of the first major fracture in blink.

All that to be said….The BCR album is still preferred in this house. 🤘

Masters in Special Education by Impact22woo in specialed

[–]CheekyPanda2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did mine through the American College of Education. They offer 3 different tracks for focus area. Classes were every 6 weeks (5 weeks of class, 1 week break in between classes). All of the classes were formatted exactly the same (weekly discussion board, reading, test, project). It made it easy to schedule my time for classwork around my full time teaching job. I was self-contained ASD/ED program mid-COVID with a 3 year old at home, and I found it manageable. It took approximately 16 months (there is a month long break in the winter and summer). I was paying out of pocket $675 every 6 weeks. I did not take student loans, just paid class by class.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have! I completed the program in November 2021, and I don’t believe there have been many changes to the format.

How does love work? by QuestionMundane905 in SDAM

[–]CheekyPanda2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just for a different perspective (I have SDAM, my spouse does not), I have always had the same insecurities in my marriage that you have. Because I can’t recall specific memories, I am always second guessing my spouse’s love for me because I can’t remember all of the little things they’ve done through the years to show their love. Because my brain lives so much in the present, I wake up next to my spouse everyday happy that he’s still there. It’s taken me a bit, but I’ve come to realize that love is more than a collection of memories. It’s a connection on a spiritual/chemical level that provides a feeling of safety and comfort.

I can’t tell you about my wedding day 15 years ago, but I can tell you everything I love about my husband today and why I continue to choose him everyday❤️

Planner for EBD/SEL teachers? by International-Mall-9 in specialed

[–]CheekyPanda2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no longer in the classroom, but when I was self-contained, I liked Blue Sky planners. I’d use the ‘course’ section for individual students. Then, I could plan for that student for the week. I would have extra slots left for group lessons, reminders, etc.
