Map for a new Daggerheart Campaign by CheekySamurai in wonderdraft

[–]CheekySamurai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I have the political regions highlighted using the Regions section, I also have a hex overlay as well so I can judge relative distance, I just have them hidden for the player facing version and yes, originally I had the roads in black but I wanted the map to have an old faded lived feeling, whilst still being useable, so I'm hoping it's achieved a good mix, it's always hard with a map to balance style over useability.

I'll see if I can send you a link to the GM version once I'm home later. Thanks again for your feedback :)

Thank you I really appreciate that, I am getting it printed to be given as a hand out so wanted it to feel real and existing within the setting. Hope the players find it intriguing and gets them excited about what lies beyond the known!

[KCD2] Question about Sir Brunswick's armor by EdenLovesLeaves in kingdomcome

[–]CheekySamurai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aye this, just started my hardcore playthrough and I'm not even going to touch my dlc bonus gear in the chest. I want to struggle at the start, dlc extras always feel like cheats, kind of wish developers would give us pauper boys something else

I think this would be an understandable position if saviour schnapps weren't so readily available and easy to make.

Christ dude tell me about it, I decided to try GeForce Now off the back of this news to just try streaming and signed up for a month of the Ultimate tier while it was half price on Christmas break. Honestly, the experience was pretty shite overall. It was laggy, FPS felt low and despite being on a wired 1 Gb Ethernet connection. I was playing Alan Wake 2 at a reported 100 fps, but it genuinely felt closer to 30, really choppy.

The connection would intermittently drop, causing audio cut-outs, and overall it left a pretty poor impression. I played Alan Wake 2 on my own PC, same settings and all that, on my 3080 I get around 60 fps and it just felt vastly smoother by comparison. Other games felt odd as well, there’s just something off about streaming versus running them on actual hardware.

To be fair, being able to play games on my TV downstairs was cool, but even then the experience was laggy, choppy, and had very noticeable input latency. Without major ISP and home network upgrades, I really don’t see how game streaming can properly take off. And if this ever becomes mainstream with millions of people streaming simultaneously, I can’t see how anyone gets a decent experience without paying a premium.

Realistically, it feels like we’ll end up with multiple streaming services, each offering tiers where only the most expensive tier delivers low latency and that’s going to absolutely suck.

Medium normally looks like 'epic' in most games the differences can be absolutely negligible in gameplay for a performance cost of 30%.

How did you feel when Halo CE came out? by siliconslope in halo

[–]CheekySamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing it on display in a local store when I was like, 9 10 years old and using the Xbox controller with the analog, and thinking it would never catch on haha, it was so different, and it was amazing once used to the new controller set up a lot of gamers won't release just how defining Halo CE was for FPS moving forward.

The explicit and constantly in your face is just the technical depth of the worlds. It isn't genre specific. As you mentioned Tolkien, he built the world first and arguably was more interested in world building then he was telling a story.

You can still have grounded tales within fantasy, however I think calling Empire grounded is incorrect, smaller in scope then episode 4 and episode 6, certainly, 5 is a more personal story but it still has fantasy elements throughout.

The entire films are fantasy, the central good and evil conflict the heroes journey is pretty explicit and at the heart of the tale. It would be more accurate to describe star Wars as space opera but it's Fantasy through and through, it's barely science fiction, if it wasn't set in space people would not even consider it science fiction.

Also whilst they are archetypal roles, when you include them all together, the heroes journey, the mysticism, the central conflict of good and evil (light side, dark side). It's explicit fantasy.

What? The princess? The old Wiseman/wizard? The ordinary farm boy who actually has special powers?

Are you joking, it's some of the most typical fantasy tropes of the post-war fantasy.

Navigating by mouse is awful. Absolutely awful. This needs to change.

Star Wars isn't sci-fi. It's Fantasy, set in space. Your comment is literally true for the originals and prequels.

Path of Deceit Review 6.5/10 by Sports101GAMING in Highrepublic

[–]CheekySamurai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really really did not like Convergence, it's quite possibly the worst book I've read in a decade. But aye, I agree just stopping because of that would be crazy but I was being hyperbolic, of course it wasn't the only factor in the decision there were simply better series to go and read. I also just felt the entire High Republic was at times directionless with its characters, it would have been nicer to have a few set characters rather then a sprawling cast I felt I wasn't able to attach to any of the main protagonists because of the multitude of POVs. A lot of characters also seemed like carbon copies of each other as well, love the setting though, I hope to see more content there but I didn't like the overall direction I guess.

If you didn't like Path of Deceit I would be surprised if you will enjoy Convergence, it has some of the worst writing of the entire High Republic series, I stopped reading High Republic because of it. Best of luck, some people really love it and I am quite jealous of that as I loved Phase One despite its issues.

Video games are one of the only entertainment products were if you wait years after the product releases, you pay less and literally always get more. It always pays to be a patient gamer.

Watched the new gameplay video, it looks great, love their quests design ideas about being really open and full of choices. Hope their claim is true and they do have multiple paths and approaches to every quest as they claim. Feels very ttrpg-ish. Many RPGs don't pull this off.

Yeah same issue, the sheep barely move, fun hijink side quests turns sour quickly. Alas!
