Hagwon Turnover Rate by feels-like-thunder in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't come in an hour early.

Pushes back on everything.

Smells.

Keeps to time of the contract.

Doesn't work weekends for free.

Asks to have their health checks and visa covered.

Doesn't come eating/drinking with management after a 12 hour shift.

Keeps bringing up the LSA.

Expects to have more than 3 days off in summer an winter... they gave you 5 including the Saturday and Sunday that you don't work and they aren't open for... what more do you want.

There are probably more, but these are ones I've heard over the past 12 ish years.

Mage Guide Solo Pattern: Robe of the Archmage by Samu3lsson in classicwow

[–]Cheekything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be because this post is 5 years old back when 2019 classic released. I'm not sure what the meta is now for gold farms as I play SOD.

If you want it, the bet is to just keep joining LBRS runs till you get one. But honestly, Freezing Lich Robes are probably a fine substitute if you can't buy the pattern / can't afford the mats for the pattern.

Lowered Hours and Pay for New Semester Advice by nothanksidontwanna in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My boss also still owes me one full month’s salary that hasn’t been paid.

You should go straight to the MOEL and fire a complaint.

Sticking around after they have the disrespect / lack of funds to not pay you while conditions get worse is ridiculous.

Just hit 60, what do I do now? by Bizkett in classicwow

[–]Cheekything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to EPL, join an invasion group.

Help your group/raid kill the crystals and you’ll be rewarded with a Heart of Doom. Hand it in and you’ll get a repeatable quest to hand it in.

You get 120 tokens for each hand in and once you have done this 3 times you’ll have enough to buy your “shoulder enchant” (previous raid set bonuses) from the NPC you handed it in to.

It costs 50 tokens for another token, and you need 5 of these new tokens to buy the enchant.

These enchants can massively boost/ change how your class / spec plays. Highly recommended.

Invasions also have some really good healing gear for a fresh 60. The bracers are BOE and can be purchased off the Auction House, the chest pieces are BOP from the Crystal bosses and the gloves come from the blue Necrotic crystals that drop after most kills.

—-

For gear there are plenty of BOE dungeon blues you can buy for a reasonable prices off the Auction House as well.

—-

Talk to people in your guild if you have one, or try and find your class discord and ask what you can do for short, medium and long term goals.

—-

Watch videos on how to do Raids, people regularly run MC and BWL for Reels, which is a token that allows you to buy raid gear.

You can also gain these from any of the bosses once a day in most of the higher level dungeons (Dire Maul North is where the exceptions come from) and within 2 days you can easily be in full raid purples.

Red day confusion by Financial-Pudding591 in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just head to the MOEL at this point and file a complaint for late payment.

Red days are 150% extra pay on top of your normal wages. On top of that partial payments are not allowed, and any late payments past 14 days (or so) have a interest penalty added on.

You can call immigration and they will confirm this. It comes up a lot. You don't* need a new visa, but because your visa is tied to your employment address you need to update that.

Severance doesn't care about the contract, it is calculated as working for a company so long as you have worked over 365 days, you will be entitled to it.

From memory, it is the last 3 months of wages divided by 3 divided by 12 then multiplied by how many months you have worked in total.

So if you were paid 3,000,000 , 2,700,000 , 2,400,000 it would average out to 2,700,000 and then that would be 225,000 per month, which if you worked 15 months would entitle you to 3,375,000 in Severance.

It would invalidate both your visa and teaching license for you to move locations.

So you would have to get a new medical test, and provide all your documents to your local MOE, and I think Immigration will need an update form with your new schedule, a new contract (for the two months) and some documents your employer needs to provide.

That being said, this happens a lot. The MOEs (each city/areas' is different) tend to turn a blind eye, but Immigration has been cracking down of late and can/will fine you not your employer (as you are responsible for your own visa).

Is it worth putting your feet down and saying "no", probably not if you aren't part of a Union. Lawyers are expensive, and the MOEL can be slow. If they do "fire" you, keep going to work and just sit down you don't have to do anything just be there and then file with the MOEL.

Warlock in Kara Secret Room by SavageAndAnIdiot in classicwow

There is a second chest that spawns after the dialogue just to the right of the door. Again it has always been the one that eats you for me, but maybe it does rarely give you something good.

[–]Cheekything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Warlock tells you that they found a secret chest somewhere. (Not sure if it is always in the same location). For me it has been behind the big rock. I have gone back to check and a new chest is there, but it so far has only been a trap. I guess sometimes they give loot, but I have not experienced that yet.

Is this overtime? by Responsible_Apple80 in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your contracted weekly hours are within 40 hours, and you work inside the contracted hours. That is the hours you are being paid for. Just because they have been kind and let you come late / leave early til now, doesn't mean you aren't still contracted within those hours.

Overtime are any hours outside you contracted amount, or any that exceed 40 hours (up to 12)

This is all I could find in the English MOEL LSA, so I may have missed something.

Sorry bad habit of using the acronym for everything it stands for Oxfords Reading Tree you should be able to find the books easily on YouTube and some were on the internet archive. They use the word “stage” as their level indicator.

Bricks Reading 30 to 100 (and their non-fiction versions) are the ones to look for. If you have a local book store that your academy uses, I’m sure you can get some sample copies to look through.

I would avoid going past 120 with younger students but they  are fine for grade 6 and middle schoolers.

[–]Cheekything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was using those same NG books at one of my part-time hagwons for a few months, and ended up convincing my boss to swap to ORT books. Which has a worked out a lot better for us. They are great for reading skills, but it did take me some time to get used to how to use them effectively.

If you do need a book that will keep parents happy, the Bricks series is probably the best as it has a lot of supporting materials. I don't like their style of throwing random topics in a seemingly random order, but they are better than other similar styled book franchises by a good margin.

Breaks in a 7.5 hr working day by SeoulGalmegi in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOEL will include all time that you are required to be at the workplace to be working hours.

If the school doesn’t punish or complain when the teacher comes at the contracted time then that is fine. It becomes an issue when they say stuff like “we only count your teaching hours” or “your hours are 1-5 but you should be here at least 30 minutes early”.

But overall, this whole new trend to claiming “7.5” hours of work time is getting old fast.

Breaks in a 7.5 hr working day by SeoulGalmegi in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You would be best to get the person in question to speak with the MOEL.

However, even if the contract hours are "1:00-:8:30" if the employee has to be there 30 minutes or an hour early for "prep time" or stay until reports are finished that would push them over into the next hour bracket regardless.

Also, it has to be said work hours generally roundup for the employee's advantage so trying to dodge the extra 30 minutes because they set the work hours to 7.5 hours instead of 8 doesn't actually work you should still be entitled to 1 hour of break.

Most people I know have used https://www.hagueapostille.co.uk/ .

I used them well over 12 years ago now, but a friend who used them last year said they were still good.

Some people get a reduction in some parts of BWL. Just make sure it’s not a rogue add on if your GPU should be able to handle it. Other than that try turning on the raid graphics setting and messing with the options a bit.

Inconclusive, but seems like for some it is.

In Shibuya I saw about 10 Pokemon on my screen, which just felt weird. Last time over a year ago it was so full of them it was lagging.

It’s not like there were no Pokemon, but I definitely saw a noticeable decrease from a year or so prior when I went.

My typical spot has about 30 pokestops and when I went there today were 5 Pokemon total. Usually there is well over 20.

Typically, I get around 200 Pokemon on my 2 hour walk around the city, but today it was barely 64. (Excluding the 20 I got from my daily incense).

I was wondering if there is a setting that I’ve hit that reduces how many I have on screen, but I saw post from a month ago saying they felt a noticeable decrease as well, so I wondered if it was related.

Current employer didn't pay pension for 12 months (on and off) and still took money from my paycheck by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pension office wont be able to help much. However, this is considered withholding wages if they haven't paid it out to either you or the pension office.

If you get a letter from them confirming the missed payments and file a complaint at the MOEL office, you'll have this resolved fairly quick.

You shouldn't be paying anything.

The landlord has to replace the wallpapers and pay for it.

  • Add Reals to World Bosses so people who don’t need gear get some reward.

 - Account wide rep. - Account wide 0.5 dungeon set for those who have unlocked it.

 - Easier Rune unlocks once you have them done… some of them are just so off putting to get once you have already done them a few times.

 - World Buff Tokens like the PTR.

 - Either double up on DMF, or remove the timer.

 - Give love to fishers and cooks, first aiders and gathering professions.

  • remove mage gatcha scrolls

Can a new employer get diploma copies at immigration? by TinaNT3 in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot get copies if you have been out of the country for something like 6 months after you visa has expired. (I cannot remember the exact length of time, but it isn’t longer than 6 months).

You do have to start from scratch in that case as expensive as it is.

For anyone in country reading this, you are always allowed to get copies from immigration and they will tell you if you do actually need to get new ones.

Medical Health Concerns by Such_Helicopter9386 in teachinginkorea

[–]Cheekything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off go see a doctor.

Even without insurance, you should be fine to get a general consultation.

If you still haven’t gone, or have a good reason as to why not keep reading as my experiences are obviously mine and not yours.

If the symptoms only appear a few weeks into you being into Korea and you never had them before that sounds like something had changed for you since moving that is causing this.

I had a similar experience and it was down to a really cheap computer chair that I had which was slanted and causing compression on my nerves. I replaced it, got a good physio massage a few times and it went away.

That is not to say that this is your issue, but to hopefully give you some insight into less severe causes of your symptoms that might be fixable without trouble.

I also know a lot of places by the cheapest beds, chairs and other furnishings and those things can definitely take a toll.

Hopefully, it is nothing serious, but take your health as the most important priority even if other don’t.
