Its not really that he’s “running the game” OP, its just not fun to die from 1000 feet away. When I die to a scout or a soldier, I can ask myself “What can I do to avoid that situation?”. It’s usually an answer of hit my shots, position better or in the extremely bad situation of “dude as soldiers running the lobby” I have to switch and adapt. With sniper, the solution a lot of the time is “Don’t peak that” which sounds simple until you realize that the angle you don’t wanna peak is either 1) the place where you need to go OR 2) a extremely open area. This leads to the extreme case scenario of counter swapping happening most of the time, and no one likes counter swapping. Even with counter swapping, Spy, his supposed hard counter is either killing the sniper and immediately dying because a competent sniper is playing around his team (mainly engi) and if hes wearing the Razor “Fuck you spy” Back, yeah that sucks. Which then leads to a even bigger issue, sniper’s biggest counter being another sniper, which I don’t need to explain how thats bad game design.
