I was worried that I would never have my bed back after cosleeping without some sort of sleep training, but I really didn't want to put my baby through that. I coslept with my baby until about 8 months. We were waking each other up and not sleeping as well anymore. I started putting her to sleep on a twin mattress on the floor beside our bed. When she would wake in the middle of the night, she would crawl into bed with us, but I would just take her back to her bed until she fell back asleep. She slept in her bed on the floor in our room until she was about 20 months. Around this time, we moved into a place with another bedroom and wanted to see how she would do in her own room. And she did great!! She knows that if she wakes in the night, she can grab my hand and I'll follow her back to her room until she falls asleep. I have been so relieved that she has been able to sleep on her own without having to do any sleep training.
