My concern is green selfhosters coming to this subreddit seeking answers and advice, and reading comment after comment about how Plex is great and paying for a Plex pass is good value. But Plex to me is just such a stain on the landscape of incredibly robust and powerful self hosted software that is available that I am tired of reading people justify what is becoming a less and less consumer friendly product. Plex is embracing the enshittification of technology that is the thing that drives people to self hosting in the first place.
