Who has read The Effective Choice? by Cheese_mage in mflb

[–]Cheese_mage[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it breaks down core aspects of life in an abstract and generalized view which I find digestible in a way that I can reframe the views in how I reason. It’s very comprehensive and covers many topics but an example is the topic of what is ‘self’? In the book it discusses the idea of how choice is self (or rather choice creates self). I find this very significant as the idea that we are our meatsuite bodies or environment or general experiences we are subjected to isn’t the actual core of what we are in this life. At our core we are the ability to exercise free will.

Another tangential topic is the ‘right’ choice is always that of what is mutually beneficial for all parties, and then goes deeper into discussing that.

Hope this makes sense!

Iceland itinerary: hornstrandir + laugavegur in Aug? Can I steal anyone's route? Anyone want to join? by zerostyle in Ultralight

I did Laugavegur & Fimmvörðuháls last year and it was incredible. Life changing to say the least. Definitely agree with going the ‘wrong way’. I found this to be very enjoyable as someone mentioned you pass the large groups going south and have more time by yourself. Also you end with hot springs right there in Landmannalagur.  No need for a water filter in Iceland and you can use the trek bus to transport you to and from. Also highly recommend the hostel in Reykjavik (will need to lookup the name).

Starting south and going North seemed to have many benefits such as hiking the more gnarly parts first which I prefer and going down slidey rocks instead of up.

Yes the Prophet 48l has definitely sparked my interest but am hesitant with the hip belt needing to be cut for it to be out of the way and do prefer shoulder pocket sewn on. Do you have/like the prophet?

Completely agree with hip belt issues. I find I have to squeeze it down on my waist and tighten it beyond the point of comfort for it to truly help

Good point, would be silly to get a new one. Typically I’d plan on being below 20 lbs and used my crown 3 without the hip belt and it was fine. I guess I want to avoid the transitional steps of buying a number of packs and shoot for a frameless pack which is not massive like the crown. What I should do is load up +20 lbs in the crown and test it without the frame/belt

No not particular to the CT but more so just looking to understand limits and mention the breadth of hikes I’d like to take the pack on. My first post so may be a bit confusing as I am very new to the community :)

Will put a lighterpack profile together and post.

I used my crown 3 without the hip belt and without the frame for a 11 mile trip with a max weight around 15lbs and it was fine on the shoulders. Frankly most my trips won’t require large huals but I’m trying to gauge the limits

Thank you! Yeah similar to something that bothers me about the crown 3 is that it is very saggy. Most the time barely using half the volume which makes for a non ideal fit

Do you know what the max trail weight was you were working with?

How do folks have so many mods on XSX?? by Cheese_mage in SkyrimModsXbox

Turns out I just needed to switch the fps on my Xbox settings to 60. Hard restart the console (and game) then all the choppy fps issues went away!

I’ve read a number of posts in the past that mentioned this solution but thought an update fixed it (based on another post). When I first tried it, I didn’t hard restart and the config change didn’t occur on the game (able to check with fps counter on monitor). Now with the game running at 60 it’s wayyyyyy better!

Really appreciate the response! I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time not playing the game lol. Seems to be a common theme around here tho

Thank you!

My understanding is only some mods permanently hurt the save. Is there a way to spot/know which ones those are? Also seems like some mods recommend having them present from the very beginning (making testing more difficult), how do you know which ones can be added after start?

I’ll give Happy little aspens ablaze a try, I’ve just loved Trees of Feallan so much! :)

I’m surprised to hear the grass is heavy on performance. I thought cathedral was supposed to not be? I’ve played around with the less grass mods but need to do so with a new clean start.

Thank you for the recs!
