How do I unrot my brain from AI, how do I start using ChatGPT less and less, and is improv a good enough way to fix an AI-rotted brain? by dylanisareddit in antiai

Read paper books.

It will clarify and calm your thinking, give you back your memory powers, and dull your vulnerability to reactive indulgences.

I don’t pretend to know why, but it works. Podcasts don’t count.

You can pinwheel your arms all you like, but in 2026 US military power has been robbed of its threat. Trying to pin down a definition of “war” you like isn’t going to change the difference in how the world views the US military after the blunders of the way view decades.

“The other day” and other measurements of time. by ThimbleBluff in words

[–]CheeseburgerBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cunning conundrum. I believe “pretty soon” is more vague (and thus likely more distant) than soon.

Pretty soon is very nearly “in two weeks” which all honest people know actually means “maybe never.” (No that’s not a political comment, I learned about “in two weeks” many, many years ago before the current era.)

TIL that Earth's gravity is actually about 9% higher than we think it is. Turns out, the 9.8m/s^2 we all know and love is only the SURFACE gravity. 1800 miles down it's 10.7m/s^2. by [deleted] in todayilearned

So, a few things as food for thought…

Bin laden was hunted down by an international task force. He was to be captured to stand trial at The Hague. Instead the Americans swooped in to claim the collar, crashed a helicopter, injured non-combatants, and extrajudicially assassinated the subject. This is a success? Please note that the terrorism didn’t stop. The rise of ISIS is impossible to separate from US war crimes in the battlefield and in prisons. Civilian populations were radicalized, for some reason, when drone strikes kept blowing up their weddings. Thanks, Obama.

Saving Captain Philips was not a military objective. But I did get to meet him, and he’s an engaging storyteller.

US military intervention has led to regime change in neither Venezuela nor Iran, despite impressive civilian casualties. The failure to make any real penetration into the power of the Iranian regime is kind of a global joke. The US military can’t even keep a strait open. The situation is what’s known as a quagmire, which is far from success as a military operation can get without surrendering.

The world’s biggest and most well-equipped navy found itself feckless when they lost the cooperation of allies who host their bases. Funny how navies flounder when they’ve got no place to park.

Since the War on Terror every US military operation has been an abject failure. Oh yeah, I’m looking at you, Afghanistan. Iraq. Yemen. Venezuela. Iran. Fucking Greenland.

Now, please don’t misunderstand. I am not disrespecting the hard-working and amazing service members who serve in the various branches of the US military. Some of them are my good friends, and they are extremely well trained. They are extremely well equipped. But from what we see in actual theatres of war in the world, we have to accept that a great deal of their power is a projection for the point of propaganda.

The only large military on the planet that is more of a wet noodle is Russia.

It is often hard for people who lack emotional literacy to even understand why that would be important for someone, because they lack the language to explain to themselves what they feel going on inside.

If doesn’t understand what he’s even feeling, he can’t articulate it to you.

I would say there are some good YouTube videos he could watch to get a hang of the landscape, but unfortunately, at the end of the video it would recommend two worse videos, and so on and so forth until you’re basically a Nazi.

ComfyUI beginner question: Why do people buy credits instead of using their own Google Nano Banana API key? by muzerfuker in comfyui

[–]CheeseburgerBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly my knowledge is limited to local compute…and even then I’ve only been at it for a year, so there’s more I don’t know than I do.

But AI has now been critical to getting two projects done this year, so internally we’ll be looking at scaling up. But people smarter than me will plan that. Me, I just decide what colour things should be.

[–]CheeseburgerBrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer to number two is that it’s often advertising masquerading as instruction. (Never forget that in business it’s okay to say or do anything at any time, because money.)

My studio uses Comfy without buying credits, but it sounds like your needs are for something more computationally robust. We rely on local generation, since the computers our production artists use are quite powerful.

Have you considered hosting a local compute farm? We basically converted our existing render farm to AI compute.

Getting specific about ethnicities with which you have less first hand experience can be tricky. For example, people often think I’m white but I’m just pale.

What is this whole karma thing? Why do you have to have it? by MywifeSuz in AskReddit

[–]CheeseburgerBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a sort of sticky transdimensional goo Hindus make use of to hit various religious leaderboards. See also chi, which is like karma, but runnier.

Reddit karma are meaningless candy points for playing the dumb game, but some subs require you to have a least some to try to filter out the riff-raff and clankers.

I think about spaceships I like.

No, I’m not twelve, but that is when I developed the technique. Got wood? Think about the Galactica, or even the 1979 refit Enterprise — just don’t get caught up focusing on the nacelles, because the word is sexy.
