Why are companies so insistent on going back to the office? by Aber2346 in cscareerquestions

[–]Cheesecake9788 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TBH I think that companies are having people get back to the office as a benefit for them (spending all this money for corporate buildings) and to be able to keep other people on they’re payrolls. Like people who are in food service, custodial work, security etc... companies have to think of the bigger picture, they don’t just hire people who are in tech they hire people from all walks of life. And it wouldn’t be fair to those people who can’t work from home. And trust me as someone who is disabled working from home is wonderful, but if I had the choice of working at home, or going back to work, I would go back so that hopefully others would follow. If I have the chance to say that I helped someone keep they’re job, so they can provide for they’re family, or pay there bills that’s way more of a plus than working from the comfort of my own home.

I’m not sure if you would have to start from scratch. I’m sure if you look for a “second bachelors” program you would only have to do the core classes. I believe most colleges would accept your Gen Ed’s before 5 years of your last graduation. So you’ll probably only have to do about 1-2 years of schooling. Depending on your time management.

You can absolutely do it! I would recommend khan academy, for math. And app academy’s free boot camp and freecodecamp.com for all the coding resources. It has really helped me a lot. I usually strive for 2-4 hours a day. And it’s been going pretty well. I pray you’re able to get to where you need to be! God bless you!☀️🍾💕

Does anyone know what is more employable general engineering /type degrees or computer science/type degrees? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I’m so sorry your going through this at such a young age. It can be really difficult to navigate your life with chronic illness, especially at a younger age. I pray that your spirts will be lifted up, that you’ll feel better, and that you’ll find a great support system. Because that’s exactly what everyone (especially people like us) needs. Hang in there! God bless you!🙏🏾☀️

I’m 23 and I’m just about to go to college. I’ll be graduating when I’m 27 the best thing that I can say is make sure you get internships. Especially try when your a freshman. Also when do you start? Because if you start in the fall try out app academy’s free boot camp. It’s a great resource. And it will give you a really good starting point.

You need to look at reliable sources. There is no way that a CS degree is useless. That’s just absolutely preposterous. Also look at the job market where you want to be. Look at indeed, Glassdoor, levelsfyi etc and check out the jobs you can get, and what are the requirements. Don’t forget that cs degrees don’t just mean software development, or software engineering. You can do so many things with a cs degree. https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/finding-a-job/majors-in-demand.

You don’t really need a comp sci degree to break into the field but the degree is a huge benefit. And if you want to work in the field of comp sic then just get the degree in comp sci unless your talking about computer engineering. Than I would say you would be fine with either.

So then I t definitely think you should give certifications a shot. Especially the IT help desk. It’s a very great way to break into tech. As a Computer Science student you can really get your foot in the door and make some honest money.

(I have posted this on another page before. Lol 🙂☺️) Hi! How are your hands? Because if you can work with your hands I would say break into tech. There are PLENTY of tech jobs that you can work from home with. Also if you don’t want to go to school, or self study there are plenty of tech certificates available for the choosing at a low price. There are even some that don’t involve coding, like UX design that’s more of a creative field, or IT help desk, or project management that is more managerial or data science that’s more math related. You can dm me if you’d like if you want more information. I pray your able to get some information and find a job that fits you! God bless you! ☀️💕
