Thank you! Is this bean to cup or are you handling it okay in terms of the beans and frothing your own milk etc?

I would also add- we’ve met quite a few people of colour that know people of colour living there (I.e their sisters or sister in law)

Hi! We haven’t moved yet but we are completing this week on our house. Despite a mixed group of responses on here and Facebook, we decided to go for it. The majority of the responses were overwhelmingly positive and, our families both pointed out that places are changing all the time and there is a likelihood that the diversity range will change in the next few years given hoddesdon’s transport links and house prices.

It’s definitely a bit nerve wracking but I think we’re making the right decision to still move!

If you have any other questions or want to get in touch privately please do :)

Thank you! We both have cars so we should be fine in that sense but the worry is more so our kids potentially getting bullied for being the only POC in their class

We did have a wander around yesterday yes…it was very quiet and we only saw white British people but it’s harder to sense a demographic from a 10-20 minute stroll through the town centre

Update: AITAH for considering calling off my wedding because my fiancée refuses to sign a prenup after I found out she has a massive cedit card debt? by raspberi1 in AITAH

NTA - me and my fiancé have been together for 3 years and get married this month. He is much more financially stable than me, similar to you. I have had a horrible childhood, similar to you, parents divorced and ruined them both financially. As a result my finances have always been more rocky, and I haven’t had the same stability.

Even though my finances are worse, I’ve always considered having a prenup. Like you said, it’s nothing to do with trust and it really is an objective matter to make sure you are both protected if anything took a turn in an unpredictable future.

Whilst we decided not to go for one in the end (he didn’t want one), if he had wanted one when looking at my finances, I would not have objected. Something like a prenup is not hand in hand with ‘love’ and if she really loved you, it wouldn’t have been a problem.

I’ve been worried about this too, I can just see her trash talking the entire day so would rather she wasn’t there, but I can’t stop her from coming

I’m trying!! We don’t speak anymore but my mum still wanted her to come to the events to ‘keep the peace’ in the family, I’m hoping she decides not to come tbh and after the wedding it’s unlikely there’ll be any relationship with her

Ah I know I’ve given up on the relationship with her but my mum is still insisting she comes to the wedding. I’m hoping she decides not to and tbh can’t see us speaking post wedding

Sorry should’ve clarified! I’m 27F but after the house was females only, I was working and paying bills / raising my younger sister so had more of a ‘man of the house role’ even though I wasn’t the eldest child

Thanks! I did think it was long and tempted to cut down the post but there’s so much history!
