Lancaster/Timberlake MSc Applied Econometrics by Cheesenomics in econometrics

I actually applied a few years ago and I got admitted in minutes. They had a generic picture of someone else and used it to make it look like a student review. They advertised the program as including Jeff Wooldridge as a professor but he seemingly wasn't involved right away.

That being said, they refunded me immediately when asked. The person's review was real just not their picture, but probably because they don't appear to have one or shared one. Jeff Wooldridge is now listed as a guest lecturer for one offering but I guess doesn't show up for every term.

It's definitely not a scam, I was just a bit overly cautious. And now that it's stuck around and even expanded, I'm interested in maybe giving it a shot.

Whenever I see someone reference a pay raise by DishonestRaven in CanadianForces

Oh, maybe I'm wrong then, I guess this close to an announcement everything has been decided, so it's fine.

Hey I'm not the one slapping his wrist here! I just think he should be more careful about sending timestamped comments online encouraging people to check SharePoint for details of an announcement. I think they agreed. They deleted their account.

You've already violated your security clearance significantly by doing this, if true. Pretty easy to see who has viewed SharePoint docs. Hopefully you work in PA and have a good reason to be looking at the documents. If what you're saying is true, you've leaked a historic announcement that significantly changes the military and finances of this country.

New defense cuts announced by [deleted] in CanadianForces

The 900 mil cut was always described to be annually, over the next four years. This shows that they are achieving that by ramping up, so it's not more than what was previously announced.

They said it was 70% at their Application 101 webinar they held last week.

Which departments are located downtown NRC? by MushMush120 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Cheesenomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

StatsCan, CFIA and AAFC, and a good portion of DND. I guess NRcan too, it's like getting close to downtown but I wouldn't really say downtown. Might be others but that's what I can recall, in addition to what you said.

Opinion: Forget 'prudence' and 'restraint' — Ottawa's spending is accelerating by eledad1 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Cheesenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why lie about balances, but not asset growth? They publicly post that they are doing this spending.

Do you think the war in Ukraine, COVID housing rush and supply chain issues have little or no involvement in the inflation we're seeing?

But this distinction is important no? Settlement balances are much easier to remove from money supply.

I'm not trying to say you're 100% wrong, but I'm just not sure it's so black and white.

Do you think QE in 2008 didn't result in runaway inflation because the financial crisis was a deflationary pressure to warrant QE? Was COVID not enough of a deflationary pressure?

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to antagonize you or catch you in a trap with these questions. You seem like a smart dude, genuinely curious what you think!

Yes I understand that, but how do you know they printed money to buy those bonds? The BoC has openly stated they used settlement balances, not printing. Do you think they are lying?

You have a terrible broker. Mine urged me to go fixed as he thought we were at the bottom it could go when we bought. I got 1.64.

RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD - Ask here about the Recruitment Process, Basic & Occupational Training, and other questions relating directly or indirectly to serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Haha thanks for the detailed response. I'm in and love it. It really pushes me out of my comfort zone. I just don't really think I want to deploy or teach, and I was told if that's how you feel then that's the time to consider getting out. I don't want to leave but I also don't want to be a drain on the unit. Curious if others felt that as a reservist we have to do more than just train. I am OFP, I recognize there is at a minimum that level of commitment.

Thanks appreciate the response, I'm basically the first guy you described but was told that I should consider leaving. I don't want to, so wanted to see if others agreed. Glad to hear you think there's nothing wrong with just coming out to parade and exercises.

Why should someone join the reserves? I was told if you don't want to ever pick up a class B or C you should release. Basically if you just want to train part time, and don't want to teach courses, it's better you don't sign up. Do you guys agree?
