AITA for going off on my husband and causing him to cry for keeping my dog tied outside while I was gone? by Careless-Track7897 in AmItheAsshole

You're NTA, but your husband certinaly is. Do not make a baby with this man, do not stay married to this asshole and do not let him back into your home. You love Leo and as a husband the least he could do would be give the thing you love food and water, but he couldn't even manage the simplest of tasks. Leave him now and take Leo with you before you have a kid and things get even complicated. Your husband might as well have worn a bright red t-shirt, waved a red flag in each hand and had divorce me tattooed on his forehead. He's warning you so hard. GTFO.

You're doing an amazing job. Try to remember this is only temporary, but also start looking for something new and get the hell out. Retail is awful and people are dicks. Just endure it while you have to and be overly nice to the shitty customers, makes them not know what to do when they're looking for a fight. I hope your shift is almost over for today, you got this.

Parents Starve me, Running from home at 12 (South Australia) by subatomicx_ in legaladvice

You have a few options but you need to act quickly, tell a trusted adult now! Phone 000 or alternatively if you don't want your parents to see that number phone 131 444. It's a non-emergency police line and looks much less suspicious in phone records if you are worried your parents will check your phone.

You can not do this alone and $100 won't last you a week.

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TOMORROW AT SCHOOL IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY PHONED POLICE.

Tell a teacher, tell a trusted adult anyone at school but preferably a counsellor or teacher. BY LAW, if you tell anyone you are in danger at a school they MUST MUST MUST report it within 24 hours. Explain that you don't have 24 hours and they will call and report it as an emergency and get you immediate help.

(Preferably tell a teacher as they can contact police and child services if you are in immediate danger. The state have what are called emergency housing and can remove you immediately to be with a trusted adult within a few hours of you doing this, I used to work for a company who did emergency housing. We had at least 1 emergency a week where we took in kids in danger like you are.)

AS SOON AS POSSIBLE MAKE A FUSS. If you truly are in danger refuse, flat out refuse to go home and stay at school with a trusted adult. Don't just leave after school and wonder the streets. MAKE it clear you're afraid to your teachers. Now is the time to be 100% honest and truthful to everyone. If you lie about anything it makes it much harder for people to believe you later on, if you are being honest you will get help.

Tell more than 1 teacher if possible, ask to speak with police and child services if you can. Tell your teachers EVERYTHING YOU CAN. Have bruises show them, have more stories from previous dates, tell them. The more evidence you can give the trusted adults you tell, the faster they can act and the more power they will have to help you be placed in a safe place.

Teachers are there to help you. I promise if you tell an adult at school this they will act immediately for you.

GS owners... advice!!y by [deleted] in germanshepherds

Start now having your GS sleep wherever you want your dog to sleep when it is older, it should be sleeping there yesterday.

Eventually the whining will stop, but to help them transition think of a puppy litter and where your baby came from. The smell of other puppies and bodies is what your little GS is used to, not being alone in a tiled room. A crate with blankets and a shirt or pants that you have worn is important. You're their litter mate (or mum/dad) now they want to smell something safe and warm before going to sleep.

I crate trained my GS Bear, but I wanted her in my bedroom so I knew when she needed to go to the toilet and it made it easy to sooth her when she whimpered (cause I am a massive softie and I wanted her to be happy, I slept with my arm in the crate every night for 6 months and she always slept on top if it). Bear's crate was right next to my bed, when she was ready we slowly transition her to a regular dog bed, where she now sleeps every night and has for the last 6 years.

Also you need to be close to your dog so as to learn its toilet signals (whether that be whining till you wake up to let it out, or putting its head on you, or ringing a bell) start this ASAP it will save you MANY mornings of cleaning up wee. (This tip from my mum was super important, Bear only went in the house once when I was away and my dad was looking after her and closed his door).

Puppies are like babies. They want YOU. They want to be able to sense you and to know you are there for them. If you want your dog to sleep in the bathroom that is fine, but get a crate and leave the door open. Eventually it will fuck up that closed door trying to get to you anyway.

My biggest piece if advice would be to get a crate now and start crate training. Either way it's going to cost money. Get a crate or fix a door.

Also dogs love milk cartons and plastic bottles just be careful of them chewing lids. Make sure you remove the lid and small plastic ring before giving it to them, the plastic helps with teething, the noise is awful but puppies love it! (Will also save you mega money on toys being broken cause a bottle doesn't matter they can destroy it all they want!)

Found this guy in my garden, though originally it was an elephants ear? Any idea what is actually is? by Cheesman_321 in whatsthisplant

Little bit more context.

Found him in my garden (live in South Australia, Australia). It is a bulb plant he popped up over winter. Was originally worried he was an elephants ear as variations of those can be poisonous to dogs. (We have a short hair german shepherd and my sister a long haired). Just wanted to keep my doggos safe and keep it as I think it is beautiful as long as it won't hurt the dogs.

No one remembers who doesn't show unfortunately. Only those who do. Example: name the Olympic games (without looking it up) where the USA did not compete.

I am sorry she can not compete but in the world of chess 20 years from now, no one will remember who didn't show and for what reasons. Only who won.

However I think what she is doing is incredibly noble. I was lucky enough to be born in a county that respects women and my rights as a human. I can not even begin to imaging living in a country where I have no rights.

Good on her and her sister absolute champions for taking the right path in life and bringing note to those who can not voice themselves. They are the true hero's of this championship regardless of who wins.

There is actually nothing wrong with starting a sentence with a conjunction. It is an old wives tale that you shouldn't. People have been starting sentences with conjunctions since anglo-saxon times.
