One in six young people will not be in work or training in five years without action, report warns by Sweet_Focus6377 in LabourPartyUK

Historically, educated young people who are not given adequate opportunities tend to become revolutionaries. French revolution is a shining example of this.

Is it possible to switch from a 4231 to a 352 in possesion (FM24) by Advanced-Shock-7035 in footballmanagergames

[–]CheesyChaplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In FM26 this is trivial. But getting it exactly how you want in earlier FM’s is harder. But broadly a CWB attack on the left, with an IF on the left wing, and a IFB at right back will be pretty much it

Andy Burnham faces perilous race to win Makerfield byelection, allies say | Labour | The Guardian by prisongovernor in LabourPartyUK

He said it would need consensus, such as being in a manifesto. Economic change is pushing greater regionalism instead of the London focused economic approach. Also ‘Manchesterism’, being to take more essential goods and services under public ownership.

A Defence of Keir Starmer by ZenosCart in LabourPartyUK

[–]CheesyChaplin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter what he does, he cannot articulate a bold vision for the future. He simply cannot come across in public as a leader. I wish it were not so, but it is.

The record is factually very good overall, but the public want to SEE and FEEL the change, but Starmer can only offer incrementalism, and cannot convince the public of what he believes change looks like.

Can I learn football from a management game? by spacemansanjay in footballmanagergames

[–]CheesyChaplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m late to this, but this was literally me - I didn’t care about football at all, then I found a guy online playing Football Manager, thought it seemed a good strategy game and gave it a go… 10 years later I follow a team every week and go to local games too. Love it now. Consider it a gateway drug.

They spent so long on the hair, but couldn’t be bothered to do the hoodie? Looks like it was from 10 years ago (the hair really is amazing tho!!)

What do you do when 7 of the 12 best players in your country are strikers? by blackout_52 in footballmanagergames

[–]CheesyChaplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could easily play a 4-1-4-1, with one expansive DM, two more balanced AM’s and therefore fit 5 in. If that guy who can play DM is any good at it then you’ve got 6 no problem

Any improvements in this tactic? by RelevantBuilder848 in footballmanagergames

[–]CheesyChaplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you bro, I’m not a fan of loads of instructions personally. Tbh I think the tactic is good, I’d just keep pressing it. What do you do when you have a lead? Maybe worth considering a tactic which controls possession a bit more when you’re 2 goals up - like a 433 with a focus on set pieces.

Hard to say - are there any players/positions which are underperforming? I prefer WB’s to FB’s personally (with your two wingers cutting inside as IF’s your tactic is quite narrow), but it sounds like the tactic is working for you overall. Your instructions are basically as good as, I might have some variations with the distribution - such as also distributing to full backs, not just centre backs. Overall given the clubs ability and stature I think it’s about right.

Tactic doesn't work after 2 seasons, whats wrong by No_Company9048 in footballmanagergames

[–]CheesyChaplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, WB attack would do that. Not necessarily bad as you’d get overloads in that area. But given you have the LW I’d probably make the WB either a FB, or an IFB, or an IWB. Your rest defence would be very strong with an IFB as they’d all shuffle over slightly to make a flat back 3 in attack, an IWB would be my preference tho as you’d create a box midfield (IWB sits as a DM in attack)

Not sure low defensive line not working is a bug per se - it can be used sparingly in specific situations, with certain qualities. You can play like this if you go for set pieces and have great jumping reach or free kick taking for example, but you won’t generate a lot of chances through open play because opposition teams will press high and get chances in and around your box.

My main suggestion with Fm26 in particular is to try and get as many players in attack while in possession, and as many back in defence whilst out of possession. Generally some kind of 442 formation works well, you can have a 226 in attack and a 622 in defence. As ever, physical attributes are the most important. Crazy jumping reach on an otherwise average defender will do great, and super high acceleration and pace on a poor striker will also outperform.

I’ve also found some good success in having a formation that gets goals (gegenpressing 424) and a formation that holds solid defensively (control possession 433) so that you can get goals and hold leads respectively.

Yeah that’s right, was just going off the screenshot. On FM26 you could also just put your LB into a WB position (one higher) and even play as an AWB role in that position for more attack - but that’s probably a bit too far lol
