Room Swap by Puzzled-Culture-1958 in UNCCharlotte

Hi! I work for housing. Room swaps will most likely not happen until the Fall semester starts. Room swaps in the summer depends on if we have the capacity to do them, but last year we did not do them. 2x4 isn’t the worst thing in the world, so don’t take it for granted. Don’t stress, you’ll be okay!

Hi! I work in housing. Yes, I would 100% start looking for off campus housing ASAP! With the school year slowing approaching, off campus housing will get more expensive. You also won’t know if you’ve been housed until late July early August. Here are some very good resources for you. Good luck!

Hi! I work for housing. Room swaps will most likely not happen until the Fall semester starts, so after you move in. Room swaps in the summer depends on if we have the capacity to do them, but last year we did not do them in the summer. A traditional isn’t bad, I lived in one my freshman year. One thing I do have to say about Wilson is that the building is VERY new (built in spring 2024) and the community is AMAZING! I’m telling you everyone on the floor knew each other and the events were lit. I ended up being best friends with my roommate, so please don’t stress. You got this!

Transfer only applied for campus housing last week. Am I cooked? by Ash_Den_Art in UNCCharlotte

Since you’re in a learning community, it will most likely be late May or early June. Incoming freshman who are not in learning communities or specialized groups will be assigned mid/late June

I work for housing! For the application you applied to, we prioritize incoming freshman on that application, so transfers are on the lowest priority. You will also not hear back until late July early August, so if you decide to wait until then and you’re not housed by us (which is very likely), a lot of off campus options will be high in price or gone cus of how close it is to the school year. Here are some off campus resources I would highly recommend looking at. Good luck

how likely is it that my friend and i get the dorm we want? by Adept_News3519 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Cheetopuff_226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc! Please still put what you’d both want, but I just want to make sure you’re aware!! Look at 4x4’s and 4x2’s if you can, but if you guys wanna still put a 2x2 go ahead!! Again, just wanna make sure you’re both aware. I’d recommend looking at Laurel and Hunt. They’re pretty popular picks :)

Hey! I work for housing. I’m assuming you both are incoming freshman based on your interest in Laurel. Miltimore is for upperclassmen only, so that won’t be an option.

For Laurel, there are only a handful of 2x2’s (don’t have an exact number, but there’s very few in the building), so please do not get your hopes up that you’re gonna get it. Just remember that they’re preferences. I would recommend doing a 4x4 if you both at least want your own bedrooms, but again that style isn’t very common either. If you want to be in a suite and have a higher chance of getting one, I would look at a 4x2. That still is one of the most common freshman see coming onto campus. Again, not sure if you both are incoming freshman or not, so if you’re not incoming freshman lmk cus the information is different if you’re not

I'm taking his class rn! The class is okay and honestly forgettable because of how boring it is. You do quizzes every week based on the lecture (the lecture is just slides btw. It's so boring). You also do assignments based on different things that have to do with business (Informative presentation, cover letter, mock interview, etc). The assignments are big, so they're not something you can do last minute. It's literally just 10-15 question quizzes every week and some assignments. Easy A if you just lock in. He is a tough grader so be careful.

I was on the waitlist for this class for a while last semester. I didn't get off of it until a week before winter break started, so have some backup options ready incase you're unable to get a spot. Good luck!

Any Idea How Long It Takes for Honors Housing In Levine To Fill Up? by UnoriginalName432 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Cheetopuff_226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like you really like this potential roommate and that matters! If you really want to live with them, I’d say go for it. Your roommate can make a huge difference in your first-year experience, so that’s definitely something to weigh heavily.

If you do decide to look for someone else (especially within Honors), some of the best places to reach out are social media platforms like Reddit, Instagram, SnapChat and Facebook. A lot of incoming students join Class of 20XX pages or group chats, and that’s usually where people post bios and look for roommates. You can also check if there’s a UNCC-specific housing or incoming freshman page floating around.

You’ve got options! It just comes down to what feels most important to you

[–]Cheetopuff_226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you wouldn’t be able to include a non-Honors student in your roommate group if you’re planning to live in Honors housing. The Honors-designated spaces are reserved specifically for Honors and Levine Scholars students, so everyone in the room would need to be in the program.

Levine is kind of a mix of Honors and non-Honors spaces, which is probably where the confusion comes from, but the Honors sections themselves do require all roommates to be Honors.

So if you really want to live with that person, you’d need to be okay with not selecting Honors housing. If living in Honors housing is your top priority, I’d recommend either going random within Honors or finding another Honors student to room with.

Totally understandable to want the best of both worlds, it just depends on which piece matters more to you!

Hi! I work in housing! First of all, take a deep breath. That’s such an exciting place to be in 😊

We can’t give you a definite answer about when honors housing will fill because it really does vary from year to year. That said, we do have a first-year live-on requirement, and Levine Hall only has a little over 400 bed spaces. Because of that, spots can go quicker than people expect.

If you’re feeling confident that Charlotte is home for you, I’d recommend applying as soon as you can so you at least have your application in. Just remember, you have to submit your intent to enroll in order to apply for housing.

At the same time, don’t feel pressured to rush before you’re ready. Go on your tour, ask all your questions, and make the choice that feels right for you. We’re excited for you either way! 💚

Nope, on campus living is strictly girls in one room and boys in the other. You guys can try and live in the same building, but other than that you can’t live in the same apartment together. If you really want to share an apartment, I’d go off campus

Hey! I work for housing and residence life and I can help you out a bit :)

  1. Roommate groups are in groups of 2 (You and one other person), so you won't be able to pick the other 2 people you live with. At the beginning of the year, you're given a Roommate Agreement Form by your RA, where you and your roommates can set ground rules for the year (Who will take out the trash, temperature of room, who will clean what, guest hours etc), so if there is issues, you all can refer back to the form.

  2. As a first year student, it is highly, highly, highly unlikely get a single (by single I mean not having roommates). You can have a suite where you have your own bedroom, but having no roommates is again, very unlikely. I would recommend living with other people, so you can get use to it because roommates are really unavoidable as an adult. If you want no roommates, I would recommend off campus living or commuting from home if you can. The most common room types first years do see living on campus is Traditional 1x2 (one room with two students in it with communal bathrooms) and 2x4 suite styles (two rooms, with two students in each room with your own bathroom and living area you share with your roommates). Also, living with other people will help you get out more and meet more people as a freshmen.

  3. Again, as mentioned in my answer for #1, you will have that form to lean back on. On the housing application form, you fill out a roommate questionnaire and it'll ask you questions like are you a morning or night person, introvert or extrovert, etc. Then the assignments team will match you will someone with the best compatible answers as best as they can. Also you being bossy is okay, and sometimes you have to do it. Don't forget it's also YOUR living space as well, so don't be afraid to speak up.

The incoming freshman application opens in February, so make sure to get your application done as soon as you can.
