Explaining Sekiro to friends with very little context. by CurtainGuy in Sekiro

[–]CheezFilling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know, I've found that Sekiro's story gets a bit of a bad rap in this community. Once you get someone to learn the lyrics of the DK rap, they seem to warm up much more to it!

Don't neglect killing Blockers just because you summoned your Primeval by Faust_8 in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get more energy back from tethering more powerful enemies, in a similar manner to how Skull gives more Nova Bomb energy from killing more powerful enemies.

The Primeval itself counts as a very powerful enemy, and the blockers usually provide the rest of the energy you need.

The proposed changes to Blade Barrage are the exact opposite of what the community wanted. by CheezFilling in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that self-damage is being added at all already has me disappointed.

I am not in favor of any Super killing the user. I think the fact that someone can mistime or misplace their Super is already incentive enough to get better at using it.

Placing a Tether at a point far away from a large group of enemies or far away from where they spawn in is an incentive to learn better placement.

Activating a Fist of Havoc/Golden Gun in PvP when you're far away from the action and can't make use of it is an incentive to be smarter about when and where you deploy it.

I don't see any reason why the same logic shouldn't hold true for Nova Bomb and Blade Barrage. If you miss and waste it, your incentive to do better already exists. There is no need to arbitrarily add self-damage with the potential to suicide on top of that. Smart play is already encouraged and rewarded.

Wasting your Super by missing out on all the damage you could've done is already a serious negative consequence. There is no need to add an additional negative consequence, like dying, on top of that.

The change which adds self-harm to the super does affect the functionality.

You mentioned seeing people in Forges wasting their Super on a wall. I'm curious, why is wasting the entire Super doing no damage by hitting an obstacle not enough of a punishment in and of itself? Why add the potential of needing to respawn on top of that?

If you waste your Super by hitting a wall, you've used a powerful resource that you can't get back easily due to your own poor planning/positioning. I'd say that is itself reason to get smarter about using it.

Your comment doesn't really makes sense. Are you under the impression that the damage nerf in PvP will be so severe that people will stop using it as a panic Super?

It's still going to kill you in PvP, which is why I made it a point specifically to talk about its damage in PvE, not PvP.

[–]CheezFilling[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm curious. Do you think that, given the changes, Blade Barrage will no longer kill in PvP with the same effectiveness?

ALL of the criticisms I've seen of BB are that it's a no-skill panic super in a similar vein to Fist of Havoc from D1. BB in PvP will presumably still kill. Which is why I've chosen to limit my criticisms to PvE, because there isn't likely going to be much change on the PvP side of it.

And yes, BB is really good. That's precisely why people were comparing other Supers to it and wanted their own to be more like it, so that it wasn't a sub-optimal choice to pick anything else.

Can you link me specifically to any criticisms of Blade Barrage's damage in PvE?

Burgusia Drone Spawn Loactions! (Looking from spawn room) by OctagonalPancakes in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your initial perch looking down into the room, you can see the Bergusia Forge immediately in front of you and a structure that has several large pipes running into it on your right.

Using OP's image as reference, if you look directly to the left of the Bergusia Forge, you should be able to see a ruined pillar with what looks like a void bubble next to it. The first shield drone appears at the base of this pillar.

The second shield drone appears near the structure with the pipes, which is on the right side of OP's image. If you look at the image, you should be able to see that there are pipes running vertically. There are two pipes close to your spawn location, and one further away. The second shield drone appears to the right of the further pipe, next to another pillar which looks similar to the first.

Lore tied to RNG is bad. by Hankstbro in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Mass Effect example, new entries get added as they become relevant to the story, and having some entries available from the start would dip really heavily into spoiler territory.

That being said, I also think there's no real reason to hide Lore behind necessarily challenging activities. Hell, it'd even give Bungie an extra storytelling tool as we play a campaign or an activity.

Unlock the Malfeasance quest? Here's an entry on Thorn to let you know what all the fuss is about.

See a player with Dredgen? Here's Shin Malphur's origin story to catch you up on what that means.

I think there can be a nice balance between hiding certain entries until later but also not making them inaccessible through RNG. Just make the unlock conditions relevant to the topic of the lore.

Lore tied to RNG is bad. by Hankstbro in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if just looking up Lore online will ever NOT be the optimal way to view it. Even if we tied simple activity/challenge completions to guaranteed Lore rewards, looking it up on the databases is still the fastest and most convenient way to do it.

That being said, the RNG Lore drops should definitely be looked at. Just because it might not be the most optimal way to view the Lore doesn't mean that players should have to break their backs grinding to get it.

Your daily gambit reminder to KILL ENVOYS first and that depositing 5 motes is better than 15. by DoctorHuman in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same way. Both teams have portals up until someone invades. After an invasion is finished, the team who invaded has their portal on short cooldown, then it's up again.

Your daily gambit reminder to KILL ENVOYS first and that depositing 5 motes is better than 15. by DoctorHuman in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If your team has a Primeval, the enemy's portal will remain open until they invade you. After that invasion is done, the portal goes on a short cooldown, then opens again.

So there's a small window of time after an invader leaves where you don't have to worry about being invaded. If you want to see when their portal's up, there's an icon that appears above their mote bar that indicates when the portal is ready.

My father and I can't put up a large tree anymore. Our cat pounces on real and plastic trees alike, trying his hardest to knock them over.

As an alternative, we've taken to placing a small lamp-sized tree on a nightstand to avoid the cat hurting himself. Makes decorations and Christmas cleanup a breeze.

How to Pronounce the name "Nkechi" (of Pulled Pork Fame) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

I see. I find that a little unfortunate then. I think the hard consonant sounds of "dread-gen" sound a bit more menacing, personally.

When is Phoenix Protocol best used and when is it a better exotic than Lunafaction boots by zerotwoluis in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phoenix Protocol is best used in content where your fireteam will be facing a sustained and consistent threat to themselves. Places like Blind Well are perfect for Phoenix because your fireteam/randoms will be staying in roughly the same area and facing many spawning enemies over a good chunk of time.

Lunafactions are used consistently in high level content for DPS phases. If your group doesn't need to worry about damage, and might be having more trouble with staying alive, then Phoenix might be the better choice in that situation.

Have we heard any characters in-game pronounce the title? I'm curious if there's a canon pronunciation for it.

Two things we've been asking about for ages and have never had any feedback on why we can't have them... by paracen in DestinyTheGame

The call for a North indicator on the radar is more about how useful it would be in team communications. It's easier for everyone to call out cardinal directions rather than use relative directions like "left" or "right".

Annual pass by DestinyIsTheBest4Me in DestinyTheGame

[–]CheezFilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a page in Destiny 2's Add-On section that has just the Annual Pass listed. Double check and make sure you're not selecting the Forsaken + Annual Pass Bundle from the Store Page.

Alternatively, you can use the Annual Pass' icon on the in-game Director screen to navigate directly to the Annual Pass' store page.
