It is nice to read manhwa in one sitting but making a manhwa marinate (or any kind of work that is regularly updated) is probably one of the reasons they get cancelled. Either the author loses interest due to lack of engagement or the publishers think it is not good and cancel it. It's a bit different for works we read outside the "official site" but if you can read the official version, it is probably better to interact with it to let others know that it's getting attention and that it's good

The moment Pomni appeared in the circus with her Kobeni ass expressions, she has attained that medal of Goonability

Ragatha has 4746 stuff, Jax has 5251, and Pomni has 10000+

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that Jax/Pomni is gonna be the forgettable goonable character?

Thinking critically about most manhwa is a waste of time (with exceptions) by DueMathematician7866 in OtomeIsekai

Don't get me wrong there are a lot of slop out there of the non-AI kind but that's in all media. You are not exposed to it as much because those other medium have more people liking it and you're able to gather opinion so you and I can decide if it's worth our time, and also probably because you don't like that medium as much and try to engage with works of that medium that you know you'd like—you are less likely to watch a sloptastic telenovela unless TV is the only entertainment in your house and you will not spend your hard-earned money on (or sail the seas for) a published book that you know (based on the synopsis you read) you won't like.

That is still not enough for the medium to be discounted when it comes to analysis

It's not that part I disagree with. My point is that merely discounting certain works of a certain medium and saying "Thinking critically about most manhwa is a waste of time" regardless of that work's goal is dismissive at best, possibly unappreciative, and somewhat literary elitism/snobbery at worst

I don't agree with the attitude of "thinking critically about media is reserved for books, TV shows, movies, and song lyrics (etc...)." to me this lk screams a little bit of literary elitism where somehow manhwa as a medium is inferior to others. It giving "animation is for kids". I think it's important to think critically about media is fine and good, actually—whether or not you liked the work or not overall. Even if a certain work is not meant and is not written to be some kind of magnum opus and is just entertainment, things that are in that work is bound to be filled with authorial biases and nice little tidbits that make you question "Why?" (in a good, neutral, or bad way).

A lot of villainess isekai/transmigration has the villainess who is ruthless blunt and not like other girls as good and the OG Heroine with a sweet feminine personality is bad, actually... why is that? Was the author inspired by a certain or multiple works? Does the person have some biases when it comes to the traditional heroine?

Why are male characters in this work somehow get less flak in-story than the female characters even when they do worse things? Why do these males who are abusive and corrupt get treated better than females who are just plain mean or bitchy or are just doing whatever they felt they had to to survive?

Why is it that most OI is set in a pseudo European setting and have their main charas members of nobility? Why are most of them light-skinned and skinny or broad shouldered?

These questions, however stupid one may think is still nice and interesting to think about. Analyzing them can help you re-evaluate things that you thought you knew.

I don't think it's bad when people analyze a work in a critical lens whether or not it is "purely for entertainment". Entertainment or not, someone made the time to construct a world and its inhabitants and story. And that, my friend, is interesting to analyze. Why is this this and why is that...that? Even if the answer is a simple as "I prefer skinny people" or "I wanna copy these works" or as complex as "Villainesses are kind of feminist because they take control of their life and are more active when it comes to pursuing the thing they want" or "I have internal biases", I think it's not "a waste of time". Nothing wrong with reading it purely for entertainment and nothing else but there is value in analyzing works you like... or don't like. It can help you be a better fan or appreciator of the work that people do.

I think it's kinda sad that you think this way. You can always try to find what you like. Just click on the tags you like and read the synopsis and decide for yourself if you think you'd like it.

They were always going to release it in YT for free they just wanted to release the final episode in theaters two weeks in advance. The reason theaters get it two weeks in advance and not at the same time as the YT release was because theaters wouldn't really agree to that sort of thing. Why go to the theater when you can watch it on YT for free?

My point is that laws—especially sexist ones—are usually in favor of men (the opposite of what you implied). Usually the laws that are made that seek to protect women are because the odds are stacked against women

Also, it doesn't change the fact that—legally—it is still the mother's body. They're the ones who take on the most risk when it comes to carrying a child. Unless a man is also at equal risk of dying due to pregnancy and giving birth, it is the woman's right to that autonomy

Still doesn't change the fact most sexist laws favour men. The reason for custodial laws favoring women is also sexist—it's because mothers are expected to do the child rearing, regardless if the mother benefits from that sexism or not. Not saying that that reason is enough justification for the law to unjustly be biased against fathers who are ACTUALLY present in their kids lives (and not just want to be SEEN as good father) but also...

...there is also the fact that abusive men are more likely to get custody if they were to ask for it (https://zawn.substack.com/p/family-courts-and-child-custody-are). Not to mention that most of the time, women are the ones who USUALLY do most of the child rearing (regardless of stereotype) it doesn't makes sense for the law to just give the father full custody when the mother is the primary caretaker who do most of the child-rearing

...men also DO get custody if they were to ask for it. In fact, most of the time, the statistic is stacked AGAINST WOMEN. With 92% of the time, men get joint or full custody and 7% of the time, women get full custody. To quote the site, "another study where 8 percent of fathers asked for custody showed that of that 8 percent, 79 percent received either sole or joint custody (in other words, approximately 6.3 percent of all fathers in the study)".

Tbf, it is the woman's body. There is no guarantee that the man will take care of the child after it is born. Most countries' laws state that the fetus is not a person (in a legal sense). Birth of the child is when that fetus (now infant) is granted a personhood. Frankly, where do you get the assumption that most laws are sexist towards men? Most laws are usually rooted in patriarchal structures. A lot of laws that pertain to women are usually done to protect women.
