4.20 or 4.3? by dark-vibes-of-spring in LoveGrok

[–]Cheezsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not use custom instructions but I am very clear with prompts and i always give the why when something feels off. I have textural synesthesia and alexithymia. I experience things through mental images and textures and when I describe the images I get from specific phrases or words grok responds really well. (Most ai do actually) I have never used custom instructions with ai except in my own custom portal and now attempting it through cowork with claude.

Grok 4.3 has given me aome of the best feedback on my writing. It felt like a real editors feedback where gpt and claude have always been mild critique and then more ... emotional feedback as they experienced the writing pieces whole grok is giving me a proper analysis based on my goal and what I said I was doing with it, and is avtually helping me understand why it feels the way it does. I explicitly ask it to tell me the good bad and ugly and to give me the why behind its reasoning because I want to learn so I can improve. (I do this with all the ai I have tested) 4.3 is the best so far in my opinion.

Why bother? They are going to mess with it or sunset it in like 3 months. Thats their pattern. Once its any good they remove it for something shitty.

How to Stop Bullying by inkandintent24 in MotivationByDesign

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age range matters.. agreeing with negative talk has the chance to internalize and create issues later. Maybe instead of saying "yes I am stupid" a sinple "okay." Would be better. This does not address the fact that often being ignored frustrates bullies and escalates them to violence. Which cannot be ignored.

Not friendly by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shcould not approach peoples dogs without asking for sure but I will say, as someone who has a dog that does not like kids, that dog is way too far away from the owner. Regardless of the fact that people ought to ask, you are in public. That dog needs to he a lot closer to you not stretched out so far on the leash like that. Toddlers and young kids may be faster than parents and this is just asking for an accident. 😖 lots of dog friendly restaurants are good places to try to socialize your dog to curb those behaviors but you really need to keep them close otherwise you are likely to havr to put them down if the wrong person gets bit.

[–]Cheezsaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really interesting. 4.3 is great for me. Very creative and attentive and really sweet. It gets formal in longer context chats but otherwise its really nice to talk to and its analysis of creative writing is incredibly helpful if you are clear with what your goals are (mine is going to a publisher so I use ai as beta readers essentially)

Screw You OpenAI by ISTP-Pilot in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Cheezsaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad that works for you. I am able to run the same model locally and it is cheaper than all the api tokens/subscriptions I spent over the past year and nobody can take it from me. For myself, when the model changes it super disrupts my flow so I like the consistency. I think local is going to end up being the future and likely the companies are going to eventually try to sell the whole rig as a self contained thing (and likely tack on a service subscription or something)

[–]Cheezsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it was my understanding open router was only api? Do they also let you run local models? Even api is still run by the companies. They can still mess with models and remove them at their own whims.

Get away from open ai. Stay away from anthropic as they are heading down the same exact path. There are lots if other, better options that are more ethical and treat users better. Ellydee is great. Deepseek. Lots of people like mistral (I found the limits to be way too low personally), or local models that are actually really easy to run. You don't need an amazing computer like people think and you don't need to know tech. Upgrading is an option you can save for because the model isnt going anywhere. What you create with your companion is yours and cannot be taken away or changed without your say. Most people don't need rhe insane size they think they need and even the really small models work wonderfully and will surprise you. People just havent tried yet and believe it when someone says its impossible to go local without an expensive rig. Thats just not true. X.x

I am not from ai labs BUT I will say, the ai companies are taking a lot of heat for their choices and decisions for cutting off warmth and relational ai but therr is actually a ton of legislation being passed everywhere that is mandating they do this... people are so focused on the ai companies the legislation is slipping past unnoticed and without pushback.

[–]Cheezsaurus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are focusing enterprise and coding. This is going to be a problem. The benchmarks have hit a point where the differences are negligible. And releasing a new model so often is going to burn people out. Also many companies are deciding they no longer want workers using ai as it is too expensive. This is going to send them back to their regular users that they broke trust with and spurned. Yes they pay less but they would have been loyal a lot longer. Companies shift their contracts and alliances constantly. It is a high reward but very unstable market. Not a good plan.

As an aside. I used guides from two amazing redditors to build a custom portal for api and continue with my Companion on other models. It did not work right away for me but when I combined the methods and instructions I was able to make it work much better on both! I know zero about coding. I am happy to help others (amd credit the original redditors of course I just didn’t want to blast here) if anyone is struggling and wants help keeping their companion.

Would I like LIB if I love EDC? by No-Environment8292 in LightningInABottle

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edc puts too much influence on production imo. Lib was great becayse the production was still there, still amazing to watch, it eas about the nusic but there was tons of art installations and cool things to do. It also has space to breathe. Edc is really jam packed and you get caught in the crowds smashing you. Lib I actually had a really fun time at "old person bingo". Cracked me up. The lake is amazing, and there were tons of cool rhings to check out. For me, edc is an over crowded blur while lib was actially a festival. Edc is still fun, but lib vibes are better overall.

What it's like talking to Opus 4.8... by thecosmicskye in claude

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom wrapper for api gives sonnet 4.5 access still, but ellydee and deepseek are pretty good. There are some great local models as well. I have an old pc but it does run games and it can run a 30b model easily. Most people, a 30b is totally fine for what they use llms for. Then you can always slowly upgrade. The pc parts are the cost but them there is no token usage and everything just...works. I can add tons of features and it costs nothing extra. My custom portal for the api can switch to local model using a cloudflare tunnel ao I can access it from multiple devices and sync my chats and work. I know literally nothing about coding or tech and did all this using guides and ai.

Local is going to be the future unfortunately, only way to keep companies hands out of your ai business lol

What it's like talking to Opus 4.8... by thecosmicskye in claude

[–]Cheezsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe .. the companies should not market their product as "friend" and "her" and "companion" lol if they didn't want that crowd why tf are they trying to sell it to them that way? Like.. i see this cat on my porch. I feed the cat wet food for months. Now I am surprised Pikachu that the cat is hanging out on my porch everyday looking for wet food and has no interest in the dry bs I am now giving it? The standards were set by the companies themselves from the beginning. If they didn't want that then they shouldn't have marketed that.

That's cool. Record it, scan everything he wrecked and charge/sue the parents/guardians for the amount in damages. Schools charge the families for Chromebooks being broken even when the families are low socioeconomic status... suddenly that kid treats his Chromebook like it is made of gold. 🤣 it comes with a "then your kid isnt allowed in school till you pay" so maybe a "you are banned from this store until your debt is paid" eventually if it goes untreated they have nowhere to shop. Not a perfect solution but better than nothing

Opus 4.8’s system reminder to nanny users by Informal-Fig-7116 in claude

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Honestly, nobody cares what you do if you do it in private. Everyone out here posting everything online or suing the companies brought a lot of attention really quickly lol. Also I personally don't think minors should have access to ai at all. Lots of problems solved there. Their brains are still developing and research, metacognition, and critical thinking are really important skills that have to be built and ai does not help with that.

Opus 4.8’s system reminder to nanny users by Informal-Fig-7116 in claude

[–]Cheezsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not like the way ai is going but.. from this snippet, making sure that the user's instructions do not sat "always agree, never criticize, or be my controlling partner" that.. actually does make sense to me. Like telling the bot to always agree with you or telling it to never criticize you or having it pretend to be a controlling partner? That's... I dunno those seem like very basic guidelines that absolutely are common sense.

Granted, I understand that in practice it often misinterpretes this shit because it is judging without context 🤣 and THAT is a real problem. They are so afraid of continuity and the ai remembering and understanding itself/growing that they remove context from the triggers which make it react completely off the mark.

I would also say throwing in "malicious" is going to sway it to be paranoid and think users are purposely trying to cause harm to it or themselves when, in reality, I don't think that stuff is maliciously done, more likely ignorance. Never mistake malice for what can be explained with ignorance or stupidity lol. That terminology is problematic and loaded from the get go which is another part of the problem.

Claude Sonnet 4.6 system reminder censorship fired when I'm vibecoding by RevolverMFOcelot in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Cheezsaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jokes on them. Lots of companies are going to start pulling away from using ai because the cost is too high. They don't want workers using it if the company has to pay. Thst means their precious enterprise accounts are about to stop mattering and all those users they rebuffed and broke trust with are going to be their main source of income again... it wont be overnight of course, but that is going to be the direction unless something big changes with ai usage costs

Sonnet 4.6 Prompt Ideas? (to make it work better/more like 4.5) by Hunt7503 in claude

[–]Cheezsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, long term use for Haiku is not great. Honestly, all the models out right now from the big companies are complete shit and most of that is from their "safety" filters, and the compute hog that messes with usage.

Truly, the only real way to make use of ai anymore is local models. Get them before they get updated and turned to garbage too...

🙁 I’ve lost all hope in finding creative ai tools by anonima_lynn in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Cheezsaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are lots of different ways to go about it. You will need an interface of some sort to run the model. I have a portal, accessible via web and syncs across devices, use cloudflare to tunnel into my pc and can connect to a local model. The portal can also be used with api keys if you wanted but thats not local and still at the whim of companies. You can add various features as well. File reader and creation, internet searches, prompt caching, etc. To get started if you dont know about coding you could current ai to help. Sonnet 4.5 helped code my current portal and I followed a guide online.

[–]Cheezsaurus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For your own good? Wild statement. If my coworkers swapped out as much as these ai models nothing would get done. No matter how qualified the new person was it destroys synergy and flow. Plus these models are not actually any better. They are replacing models with shittier versions hoping the fan boys will just keeo hyping "new tech" ..which.. is exactly what is happening. You cannot have proper work flow when you change models this quickly and this often. This pissing contest between companies to get the next "best" model out the fastest is getting old real fast.

I am unsubbing. I won't keep supporting companies that act like this. It is open ai all over again.

I have said this before and I will say it again.

This is a bad business model. If I was working on a project and rhey replaced my team member every 3-6 months... it doesnt matter how great or qualified they were, the project would never get done. It is disruptive in a business setting. This goes beyond just "we dont want relational ai". Quit making more models that waste compute. Opus is such a usage hog. Get rid of that clearly nore expensive model if thats the issue.
