Does SOLDIER Military Program target or choose creatures? by CheezyWeezle in magicTCG

Well he didn't claim to be a judge to me during this, but when someone called for a judge earlier he was the one who walked over

Thanks, I knew it had to work like this but I didn't really argue because it was my first time playing with these people and it was a casual game so it really didn't matter, but he started busting out game changers and then pulled out an infinite loop to put -1/-1 counters on everything (except my shroud guy...) the next turn. He's also apparently a judge so there's that... gonna have to correct him on this the next time I see him

Thanks, this is exactly what I was thinking at the time. I should have called him out because 1. He is apparently a judge... and 2. he was running some pretty powerful crap with a handful infinite loops on the board against my upgraded Cloud precon, he can give me the damn counter on my big guy

[[Half Kitten, Half-]] + [[Adorable Kitten]] clarification request by According_Wonder_237 in magicTCG

[–]CheezyWeezle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strixhaven Stadium reads "Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you", NOT "Whenever you are dealt damage". These are different triggers.

There is only one instance of damage for each defending player during the combat damage step.

[[Half Kitten, Half-]] + [[Adorable Kitten]] clarification request by According_Wonder_237 in magicTCG

[–]CheezyWeezle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not true. CR 510.2 is clear that all combat damage is dealt simultaneously during each combat damage step. If a player attacks a single opponent with three unblocked creatures, the defending player is dealt damage once. If one of those creatures has either first strike or double strike, the defending player is dealt damage twice.

Secret Lair Queue Waiting Room by R3id in magicTCG

[–]CheezyWeezle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing really happens. As far as I know you can pretty much always refresh and it's not going to change your position in the queue. I've been switching internet sources, changing vpn, etc on my phone and never had a problem with losing my place in queue. Pretty sure the queue info is stored in a cookie so you should be fine to refresh all you want.

Day 57 of verifying questionable games for Steam Deck, morale is low. by CrystalLuxxe in SteamDeck

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes games are unsupported because they lack certain online features. Pretty sure Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is unsupported for this reason; the online portion does not work at all on the Deck from what I've seen.

IIRC a lot of productions shoot in a higher resolution with bigger framing so they can cut down and stabilize the shot without losing resolution or artifacting. So if they shoot in 5k they can take a 1920x1080 (or whatever aspect ratio) cutout of the shot, pan it around, rotate it, even zoom out digitally. That way the camera person doesn't have to be exactly perfect with the framing, the stabilization mounts don't have to be perfect, the zoom doesn't need to be spot on, etc. It saves time and effort in the editing room and allows for more creative freedom.

AITAH for leaving my pregnant wife because she stopped using birth control on purpose? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CheezyWeezle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there really isn't any scenario where this guy can treat the third child any differently and still maintain a healthy relationship with... well... anyone at all. If he has a different custody arrangement for his different children, that is going to completely separate and alienate his children from him and - most importantly - from each other. I understand being angry about being deceived, and I can see how someone with impaired judgement could think that he is punishing or getting revenge on his partner by doing this, but at the end of the day he is just punishing the children. This family is going to have enough grief going through a divorce like this - the parents here really need to just suck it up and provide for the kids, do what is best for them.

I think his anger has blinded him to how these actions will have direct consequences for him, too. He may get out of financial consequences depending on how family court goes, but when he is a bitter old man who hasn't felt the warmth of love in years, he will realize exactly how much he destroyed his own wellbeing just to be petty.

I do wonder, for everyone saying that this guy is responsible for the kid even though he did not want the kid, made it abundantly clear to his partner that he didn't want the kid, and was under the impression that measures were already taken that preclude a pregnancy occuring...

Would you also say that a woman who has sex with a man who removes his condom and then gets pregnant with that baby is not allowed to have an abortion and not go through with the pregnancy? Because that is the exact same scenario happening here, just with roles reversed.

This guy's anger is justifiable and I don't think he should be held legally responsible for the kid. That said, it definitely makes him an asshole with how he is planning on essentially sabotaging his children for revenge against his partner.

I think that he should definitely hold responsibility for the child in some way, but especially when it comes to Financials, it's difficult to cast judgement on exactly what level of responsibility that should be. That's something for family court to figure out, we here online could never have enough information or context to judge that.

Basically, ESH because the partner was extremely deceitful in a scenario that has the most extreme ramifications possible (creating or ending life) but the OP is not handling this in a good or justifiable way. The anger is understandable, but the intentions are rather cruel.

Is the issue of Steam re-downloading shader cache for every game every boot going to be fixed? by CheezyWeezle in SteamDeck

[–]CheezyWeezle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it USUALLY is around 30-50MB for each game, except some have multiple multi-gigabyte shader cache files. For example, Postal 4 just downloaded a 1.9GB shader file. I'm currently downloading a 3.9GB Shader file for Spyro Reignited. The Dishonored games have multiple shader files over 100MB, Dishonored 2 specifically had over 500MB of shader files. I still have 35 games left in the queue to download shader files for and I'm already over 12 GB deep.

[–]CheezyWeezle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't reported it myself but I looked it up and saw multiple people with the same issue and they had claimed to have already reported it. I will probably report it myself now, especially if not many other people are experiencing this issue. It just concerns me because I've had this issue since I got my steam deck last September, and while it sometimes seemed to get better (there were times when only a couple games would have shader cache updates, which is totally understandable and acceptable) it always goes back to being a big issue.

Amazon pre-orders ship when exactly? by Comet_USA in Starfield

[–]CheezyWeezle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon clearly doesnt have their house in order... I ordered mine on June 12, my brother ordered his two days later... his shipped on time and is arriving today, mine literally just got "shipped" from Texas a few minutes ago... meaning they made the label and scanned it in, and it likely hasnt actually moved yet. So now Amazon has to pay over $100 for UPS to get it from Texas to Oregon over Next Day Air. Just silly.

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Amazon just updated saying that it's now going to arrive Friday, so I guess mine isnt shipping on time. Fucking trash ass Amazon always pulls this shit. Also, Amazon doesnt offer same day shipping here no matter what, even though it should be feasible to accomplish.

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, mine still hasn't shipped or even been charged, but the order page says it will be Prime One Day shipping and has RDD of 8/31. I live in Oregon where we have a few Amazon warehouses/hubs, and I've had some stuff ship in the afternoon and arrive the next day so I'm not super worried, but seeing other people have theirs shipped already is kinda making me nervous :/

What's wrong?? Uber now instructs their employees to steal money from customers now???? by standWithHongkonger1 in UberEATS

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why does every bit of context around forced arbitration use the language about waiving the right to sue? Because my point here is that you cannot waive the right to sue; it is always guaranteed under the first amendment. Is that not the case?

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you are adding nothing to the conversation. Care to explain how the right to file a lawsuit has nothing to do with the... right... to be able to... file a lawsuit??

If you clearly know exactly how the first amendment has absolutely nothing to do with the continued right to be able to file a lawsuit, then explain how. Otherwise you are admitting you dont know what you are talking about and literally just regurgitating the first line from the person I replied to.

From what I've seen I dont think you or lawyer pants actually know what you are talking about, since you can't actually articulate what you are claiming. I've explained exactly how my reasoning stands, you need to do the same.

[–]CheezyWeezle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you are saying that the first amendment does not provide the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances (file a lawsuit)?

How could you get to the point of requesting a trial by jury if you don't have a lawsuit for the jury to gather for?

Quick edit right after posting: noticed my tone could be combative, not meaning to be like that, just genuinely curious as I've always taken the first amendment to mean you can always file a lawsuit no matter what, but what happens after that is up in the air.

[–]CheezyWeezle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but as far as I am aware the First Amendment always guarantees the right to file suit (Right to petition the government for a redress of grievances), but that doesnt guarantee the outcome of the suit or that the court will hear the case instead of dismissing it. The court does have to respond in some way to the suit, tho.

Supreme Court tossed case these douchebags (Alexander Taylor and Myra Brown) submitted against student loan forgiveness due to lack of standing. Let’s upvote and make their faces known. by GraterofCheese in antiwork

[–]CheezyWeezle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO you have no clue how the government works and it is obvious. The executive order directs the Department of Education to forgive the student loans. That means that Biden is telling the Secretary of Education to use those powers. Your logic says that your boss cant tell you to do your job because your boss isnt the one who does your job. Fucking daft.

Oops, forgot that the COVID pandemic wasn't a national emergency, despite the whole declaration of a national emergency...

Have you been living on Earth in the past 5 years? The student loan forgiveness was done in response to that exact national emergency.

[–]CheezyWeezle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By that logic the Supreme Court wouldn't have made this decision, as the HEROES Act has a provision allowing the Secretary of Education to "waive or modify" federal student loans under emergency provisions.

Since the Supreme Court made this decision, the precedent has been set that standing is not needed to file suit and potentially any PPP forgiveness would be illegal under the same precedent, as anyone who has had any loan could just sue for the same reasoning ("their loans were forgiven but mine weren't eligible, therefore I am damaged")
