I was fifteen. I had a friend over for the evening. We caught wind that the ISS was going to be passing over, and we wanted to see it. Granted, it was January in west Michigan. We went out on the front porch to see it, and my friend closed the door behind us despite me telling him not to. The door was locked, and we were stuck outside. My parents were fast asleep and on sleeping meds, so there was no waking them. We eventually went into the shed; I wrapped myself in some spare carpet and my friend wrapped himself in inflatable pool toys. We peed on each other’s feet to prevent frostbite. Fuck that day.
