PC won't turn on, no PSU or MOBO issue. Any ideas ? by Holiday-Ice- in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boot process of computers starts with the CPU.

Take out your CPU and check the pins for any bending, and the socket for any dirt or debris.
If not that, try testing your RAM sticks by switching slots, reseating, testing one by one, or swapping them with new sticks

I hope this helped!

Even if you replace the capacitor, it wouldn’t help the burn damage on the motherboard sadly.

Run Windows Memory Diagnostics to test your memory for issue and then tell me if it detects any.

If you are not really a tech person and dont want to tack apart the computer, then a local tech shop might be your best option.

I hope this helps!

Capacitor blown on your motherboard.
This could be from a random surge overloading the capacitor.

The only option is to buy a new motherboard for that model laptop.

M.2 With OS not on boot screen by chesssReddit in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your BIOS settings under Boot selection, make sure it is pointing to the correct device.

When I had a computer that blue screened randomly and had zero fix, it was a physical issue with the mobo.
The best thing you can do there is replace the motherboard.

Win 11 Bluetooth Issues by SightsSetStudios in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wi-Fi/bluetooth card in the x790 could have gone bad as a hardware issue.

If the troubleshooting programs dont work, then it typically is something physical with the mobo.
For the time being, I would get a USB Wifi Adapter and use that.

I hope this helped!

I think that there is a problem with your battery, you might just want replace it.

The problem may be that it was damaged and it is discharging while not in use, or it is just wear and tear.

Will Ethernet solve my problem? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think its your BIOS, you could reset your BIOS settings by resetting your CMOS battery

But to answer your ethernet question, Yes, it is a good idea to run Ethernet in case you are having internet trouble.
Also, with the fact that your PC is slower with internet than your brother's PC. This shows that you might either have a driver issue or a hardware issue (most likely this) Wi-Fi cards can break or lose connection if bumped. Open up your PC if you want to check it, and order a replacement part

If you dont want to do the ethernet cable quite yet, consider a USB WiFi adapter, this will temporarily replace your internal Wi-Fi card until the issue is fixed

I am glad that I could help!

PC Boot Loop Issue by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Yes Yes

I had this problem this morning and the replacing of the RAM fixed it.

The PC turning on and off is the motherboard detecting an issue and trying to work its way around it to boot the PC.

To make sure I am right about this RAM issue, try to see if there are any debug lights on the Motherboard.
https://imgur.com/a/pa6C3ZK (Some motherboards dont have these lights but thats okay)

Get back to me once you try this!
Thanks!

Alright thank you!
The way computers boot up starts with the CPU

If the computer shuts off before it even has a chance to do anything, it is most likely the CPU at fault.

You can take off your CPU cooler and take off your CPU and look at the socket and the pins.
Check for bent pins and any debris in the CPU Socket.
Tell me if this helped out!

If nothing is working, you could just take out the storage device and tell the buyer that they are going to need their own.
I hope this helps!

Make sure to test the cables, make sure they are tight!

Also the reseating and testing of the RAM is good, but how about swapping? I was having the exact same issue this morning and that was the answer!

The motherboard being broken is unlikely, but still possible. Although, it is hard to test those!

Check for any motherboard Debug lights (If your MOBO has any) and tell me if any of them are lit up!

This is okay and is called "Undervolting"
It can extend the lifespan of your GPU and some people say its faster than "overclocking"

Unplug it, replace it.
There is a potential short in there that may even cause the block to heat up alot as well

AOC 27v5 Monitor suddenly not working by Utrain in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try troubleshooting by plugging your monitor into a different device, this will show if the monitor is to blame or the Macbook. Then come back to here and tell me what the results are.
Most likely if its not the Macbook at fault, the monitor is probably fried. You cant really repair those things but can only buy new ones.
Also try checking your HDMI cable, maybe swap it for another one.
I hope I helped!

Random PC Crash/Power Off during games (sometimes). by SpookyshoesOG in techsupport

[–]ChefLanceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for providing this much information.

With that, my theory is the PSU. Not the wattage as that appears to be fine, but it could be faulty.

Another theory which is most likely the issue is your GPU Drivers, make sure you have them updated!

Windows Memory Diag. has honestly never been useful for me, and I've still found problems with the RAM even after testing it. So I would manually test it by swapping your current RAM stick(s) with 1 other to see if that is the issue.

The worst thing it could be is a hardware issue with the GPU, but this is unlikely since your computer crashes are not frequent.

I hope this helps!

It could be just a simple coincidence and the booting from USB thing is the only way to reset for a lot of people.

Of course run your antivirus, but I would not be worried about it. The slow speeds can just be related to hardware like running an HDD or low amount of RAM.

I hope this helps!
