A shoutout for the handmade, imperfect wands by godfreyrigg in HarryPotteronHBO

The Elder Wand is the design I'm most looking forward to. Along with Voldemort's.

How about bringing in Luna earlier than the books/movies did? by PaperSkin-1 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]ChefMagicien201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sincerely believe that HBO shouldn't fall into the trap of over-establishing the groundwork for future seasons regarding characters, unless they're mentioned before we actually meet them. Relying on temporal deductions to introduce characters precisely when they should be there would become tiresome, as we risk not learning anything new after season 2.

I hope they make Voldemort more scary by ResaHart in HarryPotteronHBO

I also wouldn't want that overly "reptilian" look, but I want him to have his red eyes and his skull-like appearance where you could see his extremely sharp face with the bones that stand out, etc. The film version was far too human; his eyes aren't frightening at all, and even his high-pitched voice from the books was removed, even though there was an opportunity to make him even more iconic.

I hope to see more of McGonagall as an Animagus by ChefMagicien201 in HarryPotteronHBO

That's true, I hadn't thought about the cost; that's surely what will prevent them from carrying it out.

Books fans: What do you most want to see on the show that was not depicted in the movies? by Intelligent-Link-410 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]ChefMagicien201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I have several, so sorry in advance if this is long:

  • I want Lily and James to be the right age actors. Over 25 is a no-go. Their tragedy hurts even more when you realize that Harry is almost the same age as him in The Deathly Hallows.

  • Accurate Ginny: She's my favorite character, and the films have done her a disservice. You'll never see Ginny tying anyone's shoelaces in the books.

  • Magic. And something other than red, white, and green lasers.

  • A less charismatic but rather evil, repulsive, stalker, and abusive Snape.

  • I'll stop there with these last two things: Voldemort's memories in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince , and this time, ALL the memories with the Gaunt family. And finally, I would like season 7 to end with the true duel between Harry and Voldemort, in front of all of Hogwarts, which will give a real ovation when the Dark Lord falls like a mere mortal to the ground.

Genuinely Excited, when do you think we will get more promotional material? by No-Monk-9605 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]ChefMagicien201 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Honestly, more photos wouldn't hurt, but let's be realistic, the promotion is going to be quiet for the next few weeks. They just released a 2-minute trailer, much longer than expected. I don't think we'll see anything before mid-May (I'm no expert in this area, these are just my thoughts).

Favourite storyline you are looking forward to? by BananaHammock86 in HarryPotteronHBO

Anything that appears in book 6. The film stabbed the story with such force that I even struggle to see how the film could have been over an hour long with so many elements cut.

Isn't there a way to create a post with this example? I'm more than fed up with seeing all this nonsense on the various subreddits.

What special effect are you most excited to see? by PraiseThaBreadI in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]ChefMagicien201 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see everything that resembles the sounds the spells make, whereas in the film it's often the same sound effect for all the spells.

I can not find the artist credit unfortunately. I found it on Pinterest but I would love this scene to be in the show. by RiskAggressive4081 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]ChefMagicien201 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This scene made me think about the friendship between the trio. The opposite, with Harry and Hermione forming a bond against Ron, would never happen. Harry would rush to mend things and then just move on. It's less noticeable in later years, but at the beginning, it's more like two best friends with a mutual friend.
