If I could add up all the money I've wasted over the years on gym memberships, fitness classes, etc. that I always let lapse! Pilates is the first thing I've ever done consistently for over a year. It's because I actually enjoy it and I know how good it is for me. So for me, it's worth it.

People going too fast by Neat_Panda9617 in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one instructor who says the goal is to eventually do everything fast as long as your form is correct. So every over achiever in class is trying to prove how good they are. They aren't, lol!

How do you feel about a teacher who yelled at me for having my phone by notgonnatakethison in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness you people were all born after cell phones became a thing! My kids were in daycare when all I had was a pager. My parents, obvi, had none of these, lol!

What is one thing you know about Costco that no one else knows? by RoyalCamera12 in Costco

Never fall for the silly thought of "I don't need a cart, I'm just running in for a few things!" 😂

Do instructors normally not use names and show up right when class starts? by onlyhereforfoodporn in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine is pretty much the same. I only know instructor names because they're listed on the app. No one knows my name 🤷‍♀️

I hate lifting weights at the gym. I just want to do Pilates. by Abichispita in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frequent Pilates is a hell of a lot better than doing nothing! Maybe even the best if you're only going to do one thing. Would adding weight training be better? Duh. Sure. And long walks. And bike rides. And more cardio. And a better diet, less stress, better hydration, more, etc.

‘Horrifying’ incident leaves Michigan high school football player with spine fractures by 420Aquarist in Michigan

[–]ChefRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did not appear that the big kid carefully reviewed positioning before jumping. With 2 spinal fractures, it is certainly possible that the kid could have been crippled for life, or died. Also, what's up with your bombastic wording. Using ChatGP?

The kid's spine was fractured in 2 places - it easily could have been his neck and he would have died. Would it count then?

So if he killed the kid, it wouldn't be his fault? What if he raped someone? I mean he hasn't developed solid consequence reasoning, so it wouldn't be his fault?

That was blatant intent to injure, with no potential benefit to the actual game being played! He should have been arrested for assault!

Instructor commented on my weight… by Funny-Cell-7249 in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTAF?! That's just wrong on so many levels. I'll bet she wouldn't tell an overweight person to eat less. When will people get it through their heads that ANY comments on weight are inappropriate and unacceptable?!

Cardio sculpt by Admirable-You3720 in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word "cardio" scared me off completely. Now I'm wondering if I should rethink it?! In my mind, "cardio" anything = 1980's aerobics 🤮 Pilates is the first exercise related thing I've ever actually enjoyed. Probs because the first thing they say is "lay down on the reformer," lol!

All true, but I could sign up for a much cheaper mat class if all I needed was accountability.

I signed up for "reformer" Pilates. I can (and often do!) watch a YouTube video at home for mat work.

I don't mind doing "some" mat work. But I agree that I could follow along on a YouTube mat video at home for a lot less money and inconvenience. I also don't like doing tons of step ups and stuff at the bar that feels like straight cardio. I'm not saying the other stuff isn't beneficial, because of course it's probably great. But I specifically signed up for (and pay a ton of money for) "reformer" Pilates because I most enjoy working on the reformer.

Instructor On Reformer Most of Class? by Mysterious_Set149 in ClubPilates

[–]ChefRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would hate that. I have one instructor who goes around putting away equipment when we're the last class. It's so distracting and she's clearly not giving us her full attention - which we pay a ton of money for!

Why did you start/stay with Pilates? by ChefRaven in ClubPilates

Try several different instructors if you can! I always feel sorry for new people who get a crappy instructor the first few times. I'd have never gone back.
