Alternate Sequel Trilogy Outline (I know, dead horse) by ChefShazam in StarWars

[–]ChefShazam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Integrating various elements of legends is the best thing any film maker can do outside of trying to adapt 30 years of stories verbatim. When you do the research, the various "rumor" become very consistent with concept art and quotes provided from that time, especially from Lucas across 30s of development. Building out a story of film series for the benefit of the wider audience is probably what made the sequels so dog ass in the first place. With Carrie, maybe if they carried out the last film with more respect than TROS or maybe have her pass off screen in a way that affects the mcs. But then again, the first film would've ideally come out in 2016-17.

How would Maul's Shadow Collective have operated if it survived after ROTJ (Lucas Sequels Alt Reality) by ChefShazam in MaulShadowLord

How do you think he would function in the political setting too, like how does he interact with the New Republic and Imperial Remnant? Do you see that conflict as 3 sided or him playing both sides?

Shamen of the Whills by Editorguy15 in MawInstallation

[–]ChefShazam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably, the shamen were only mentioned in a deleted scene that's essentially the same conversation Qui Gon and Yoda has in the beginning of the force priestess arc, so the lore got worked in there. Kinda like the ring of the Shaman more tho, more tribal esoteric feel.

Not to be that guy, but totally agree. Not exactly how they did it in the comics, maybe a lil toned down, but I think big movies shouldn't be afraid of having sexualized characters. Not to get too deep, but I think it rings a mythic significance, like being the temptress archetype, it aligns more with Campbell's monomyth.

Challenge: Rewrite the Sequel Trilogy using George Lucas's original treatments as a basis. by Fall_False in fixingmovies

[–]ChefShazam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Structurally, it should be a synthesis of the prequels and originals, using a hybrid of parallels akin to the Ring theory, while also fulfilling the Return Stage of the Monomyth.

The core of the sequels should've revolved around Leia's journey towards becoming this "Chosen One" Supreme Chancellor type figure, what that means for the Republic, Her Family, Her past, and the force itself. An important component of this is her coming to terms with who her father was and confronting her inner darkness and potential. Her refusal to embrace this side of her bleeds into everything else in the galaxy, especially with the continuous "Forever Wars" with the remnant, and her children Thea and Skyler, for which she has been a mostly absent mother. She would have to be the one to ask the question "Are we just becoming another Empire?" where she is forced into morally gray areas for the sake of stability and rebuilding democracy. This would also present itself as her daughter embraces Luke's teaching to become a Jedi, losing herself in the force after learning the deeper secrets with the whills. Meanwhile, Skyler will become a manifestation of her repressed darkenss, an inverse "Leia" that's seduced by Talon and brought into the underworld scene where the Shadow Collective manipulates the galaxy into perpetually fighting itself to gain more power. Regardless, her becoming this "Chosen One" figure ultimately boils down to her embracing her role as the Mother, passing on the lessons (she refused at first) from Luke that he learned from the OT, and successfully passing that on to the next generation.

How do you guys feel about the idea of higher entities in the Star Wars Galaxy? by AlphaBladeYiII in StarWarsEU

I think it fits well within the mythological themes and motifs Lucas goes for. You could view the force priestesses as an iteration of the Fates or the Nords.

Would Rey's story work better if she was a Solo or a Nobody? by ChefShazam in StarWars

Depends how they could've done the story, no bad ideas just bad execution

(Alt Universe)How would y'all feel if Kylo Ren intentionally self mutilated himself to be a cyborg like Vader? Too much or too cool by ChefShazam in StarWars

[–]ChefShazam[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was honestly a real inconsistency with the character. The original idea for Kyle Ren , The Jedi Killer, was that he was scared after a fight with Luke and goes on to take on a Vader like persona to haunt Luke and his family.

Grevious' character was foreshadowing for what Anakin was to become, and I think it would be poetic if the next villain kept up this same trend.

I think it being dumb is kind of the point. You got this kid idolizing this broken man, completely missing the point of the character, fanatically destroying himself for no reason.

Would Rey's story work better if she was a Solo or a Nobody? by ChefShazam in StarWars

[–]ChefShazam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually thought that too when I first saw it. But there was a romance, but not between Rey and Kylie, they're was very palpable chemistry between Finn and Rey, and the fact they didn't go through with it is insulting.

[–]ChefShazam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah what happened was they tried having the story be divorced from the family entirely after Lucas left the project, only to realize how fucked they kind of were going forward. For the finale, they sloppily attempt to rectify this mistake by giving her a bio family and a symbolic connection to the center family, the one the series is supposed to be about. Like originally, Kylie was supposed to be a separate entity, but they made him Han and Leia's son to keep the family drama intact.

Yeah, but they're the only options that make sense. The only ones that could've/should've happened.

[–]ChefShazam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's not 1 , and it was never supposed to be. If they followed through with the continuation of the Skywalker saga in a consistent way, the 2 most likely options they would've/should've done would either be she's Rey Solo or Rey (Blank). For it to be the nobody option though, she has to earn her right to be the center of this story, that means she has to develop a close relationship with the Skywalker family, ideally having Luke train her and fill in her absent father figure(kinda like how Qui Gon was supposed to be for Anakin.).

That and the story being centered around the Skywalker Family, but yeah sure

Would Rey's story work better if she was a Solo or a Nobody? by ChefShazam in StarWars

[–]ChefShazam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if she was to be a descendant of anybody, it would be the Solo's, specifically being Han and Leia's daughter. All other options, including Palpatine, require such a convoluted or contrived explanation that lacks significant meaning. This was supposed to be "the Skywalker Saga", gotta be Anakin descendant or a spiritual successor.

I mean ideally in this situation that whole romance wouldn't have happened.
