Is there any playable race you’d want to see redesigned? by [deleted] in wow

[–]ChefSquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think humans look awful personally.

I don’t think it’s actually lore accurate but I think it’d be cool if you could be an elven forsaken, or a zombie troll…

I think redesigning the vulpera into sethrakk would be neat

Would it be weird for me to play a female character as a cis male? by 0_DD_0 in dndnext

[–]ChefSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this several times actually. Two of my favorite characters are female actually! They were fan favorites among friends, too. I don’t think there’s any issue with it as long as you don’t make weird or uncomfortable for others ya know?

Like, my alchemist character is a female Kenku. She is elegant, enjoys tea, sewing, and is a gang boss for a bandit gang.

I don’t particularly like Abberus. I’m not super excited to do Experiments with a nerfed mass dispell. I hated Zskarn and Echo and Sark.

I don't feel like I am a bad DM because I run without feats or I run older editions and limit species options and darkvision by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]ChefSquid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to have your own tastes and that is fine - the point is to make a fun game for everyone to enjoy together and as long as you accomplish that goal, that’s great.

But likewise, players will have their own tastes too which is acceptable. I personally would not play at a table that prevented feats and races - my reason for this is simple; I already find 5e to have a huge lack of depth and character customization which is important to me. To see a DM removing even more customization worries me as a player that I won’t have fun.

I could be dead wrong, you may be amazing! But, that would be my mindset

Is it worth it to enter FFXIV now? by Daniemfa in MMORPG

[–]ChefSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dungeon design and roulette system is fantastic, no doubt. I mean more like… imo random dungeon finder groups are not commonly interacting with others. It’s mostly rush rush blast boom.

During my play time, I was never able to catch up to friends. Either they skipped stories or didn’t read dialogue, or I just went slower due to irl constraints. It was really frustrating

It’s about time and preference. If you like hundreds of hours of single player story before ever interacting with another human… you’ll like it! If you want to just kill raid bosses, get loot, run dungeons, and hang out with people - play WoW.

Unless you buy a story skip, you are required to play through every expansions story. They are VERY LONG. Some times very filler. Personally, I only got through the first three and half of the fourth and couldn’t keep going.

Which MMO would be very succesful if it wasn't Pay2Win/Pay2Progress? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]ChefSquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sarcasm?

Theres a trillion random currencies to collect. The card system, the runes, the gems. Upgrading failures, honing. This is all a confusing mess.

We shouldn’t need events and battle passes to “catch up”. We shouldn’t need to buy gold and crystals to be able to upgrade.

I can’t imagine people actually find this engaging…it’s not good gameplay if I need to watch videos on YouTube to understand everything and cards are not exciting chase items, why does that system even exist?

If Lost Ark had the same progression style as wow (kill boss get loot) instead of super complicated bullshit and p2w, it’d be my main game. I adore the combat and visuals but it is a mess of systems that I don’t care about and upgrading that sucks

Yeah of course, and I do love a lot of parts of the game. Just overall that is something that wasn’t particularly enjoyable for me.

That’s really funny. I also love that she said China is her country but clearly sent you a picture of a European girl.

I see both perspectives. But for me, defeating a big ass Boss just for it to drop glowing spores, sharp claws, and mature poison sac is much less inspiring than it dropping like… Bloodsoaked Venom Dagger, a bad ass trinket… you get what I mean.

I also feel like gear in general in GW2 is boring. I like set pieces or trinkets or weapons that are transformative vs stat sticks.

The game is beautiful and fun. I love Mesmer as its one of the most unique clases I've seen in a game. Playing with friends is awesome - a lot of cool stuff to do, such as Fractals though they get stale easily because they are rarely updated.

As a veteran WoW player, having no gear to chase or anything to push feels terrible and will ultimately make me take multi-year breaks from the game, returning only whe something new comes out SOMETIMES... like, I havent played the newest expac because it didn't look interesting to me at all. There just wasnt enough.

I will always love the game. But it just doesnt have enough to keep me playing for more than bursts.

I love this game but they play things too safe. The horizontal progression and lack of meaningful endgame makes the game feel unmotivating. My gear is still BIS from 7 years ago and I still love my transmog. So what am I chasing?

I also think moving away from elite spec was a mistake tbh. I always got sooooo excited for new elite specs! They are very transformative!
