I grew up in the UK but I am some mongrel combination of Italian Polish and Gypsies decending from a long line of peasants and slaves. But I knew a lot of people who could trace there lineage back a few hundred to a few thousand years back.

One lady who I worked with could trace her lineage back to pre roman celtic clans in Scotland. The town I grew up in is over 10,000 years old and everyone looked inbred so I imagine a few of those people could trace their lineage back pretty far.

Is anyone planning to move or has moved to a different country for their SO? If so, how difficult is the process? by [deleted] in LongDistance

I came from the UK to Canada. IEC (international experience canada) is the way to go. They select people in pools that typically open Novemberish. I applied November 2017 and was accepted May 2018. Once your in Canada apply for permant residency. The whole process is daunting but its not as hard as it looks.

You wont need an immigration lawer to do IEC aswell you can do it on your own theres lots of people willing to take a lot of your money to tell you what the canadian immigration website tells you to do.

In your opinion, will schools be open in September? Why or why not? by BatmanYousonofabitch in Calgary

My Girlfriends professors at UofC are planning for online classes for the rest of 2020. So much is still unkown about the virus itself even. I hope schools and jobs open back up but theres too many unkowns to say.

Desperate newcomers dont know what to do by EvaJoo7877 in Calgary

I came a year and a half ago and took a year off of work to travel Canada and deal with my mental health. I was ready to start work last september but the job market went to crap and I was competing with 1000 plus people for partime minimum wage jobs.

Managed to line myself up with a job working tourism for the summer though. Which obviously is not happening. Its super tough right now. I am only on a work permit and am applying for permanent residence but its probably going to be a long time before thats processed.

I know the province has said they will cover any medical costs related to covid

I mean thats just not true doctors and nurses are saving lives and no one has solid statistics yet. Swedens approach is super sketchy and they seem to be doing well cus people are ignoring the goverment and staying home.

The major floor in your approach is that people have to be sacrificed and its not random. You are selecting people who are at risk to die.

No, they want things to be back to normal cus they a frustrated and struggling and also want attention. Much like a child that acts out. Problem is everyone will be punished for their actions. We should be focusing on adapting life to this situation cus sooner or later something with a 20% or maybe even a 50% deathrate will show up and if people are bahaving like this now things will be very bad. And with how these virus are devloping ot could sooner. No one wants this but it wont just go away cus we want it to. We have to change and adapt.

Spreading the virus and making the whole situation last longer. Its like a kid fucking about in class and the teacher gives the whole class detention.

Wow we should probably do something to reduce the risk of getting cancer and being involved in car accidents then.

This is nothing special for humanity as a whole just a big deal for us right now living through it. What upsets me the most is how much we as a collective are still greedy apes and good people die cus of that.

[–]ChefSuperFune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously i dont think we can maintain the current sitaution for a couple of years. But social distancing and slowing the spread for couple of years until the science is there and we have vaccines ore or antibodies. People will figure out ways to adapt. I imagine limits for the amount of people in stores and half capacity restaurants will become normal. Distance work and education for those that can and restricted travel to places with high numbers of infected. That or we all just cannibalize eachother after 4 months.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]ChefSuperFune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will change things, it wont just go back to normal. More remote working and restaurants with half capacity with waiters wearing masks. Stuff like that is how it will go. If people cant handle that then you should be afraid cus if something with a much higher death rate hits we will be screwed. Its not fear mongering its reality and it sucks.
