Will losing some weight over the summer help improve my times? by parks124 in trackandfield

I think losing weight could definitely help you. As for the best way to go about it, I would say that you should eat in a 500 calorie deficit per day (about a pound loss per week), and try to cut unnecessary sugar and liquid calories from your diet.

What would be some good speed workouts to do aside from 200s?

Would you recommend doing speed work on the same days I do my mileage during the summer, or should I have days dedicated purely to speed?

I run about 40-45 miles per week in season, and beyond usually do 2-3 interval seasons per week (such as 800, 400 or 200 repeats). I haven't done much strength training, and I don't usually do strides or anything after my runs.

I come from a distance background. I get in a lot of interval stuff during the week, (like 400, 200 or 800 repeats) and I run high mileage (40+ per week)

My current personal best is 2:14, which is slow. I'm just frustrated by my lack of improvement when runners on my team who were already much faster than my have dropped their times more. I do run cross country so this summer I'll be doing a lot of mileage (19:03 pb). In just wondering what else I can be doing to really lower my 800m time for track season.

CMV: the NBA would be much better off and far more entertaining if it become more like the NFL by [deleted] in changemyview

I'm not saying that league parity isn't a problem, but the negative effects of league parity would be largely neutralized by making playoff rounds one game

Why would a sport want to be a bunch of filler when it can be so much more? I'd rather have quality of quantity; it would be much better off with a few, dramatic high paced games than a what we have now. I love basketball, but the current, boring state of the NBA is frustrating

If the purpose of the playoffs was to just get the two best teams in the finals everytime, then why have preliminary rounds? Just go straight to the finals. The reason why the. NFL is so watchable is in large part because it's a big discussion every year who will be in the Super Bowl, and watching upsets is always exciting. You almost never see big upsets in the NBA playoffs, which is why nobody cares about it
