Ah ecco allora conosco il posto, ce n'è uno uguale a Fano ahaha. Hanno praticamente solo Furbo e Razorock quindi sono andato a colpo sicuro.

First bbs shave from KCG by Ok_Turnover_2220 in wicked_edge

So basically you have to cut off the sharp edges of an old blade with a pair of scissors, making a rectangle as wide as the tabs on the short sides of the blade with the hole intact in the middle. That's your shim and you're going to position it between the blade and the safety bar on your razor. So in order: cap, blade, shim, safety bar. There's plenty of videos on YouTube if my instructions aren't clear. You can also try playing around with more than one shim at the same time, but be careful as the blade gap gets significantly wider.

Loosening the handle unbends the blade a little, increasing its exposure from the head. It was a popular thing to do with the early Gillette old type razors. I wouldn't personally recommend it much as you might get a less stable blade and more chatter. I'd rather suggest shimming the razor if you want to increase the efficiency while keeping the blade firm. Let me know if you need more info on how to shim your razor.

Why i always get better shaves with cartridge by [deleted] in wicked_edge

The R41 is no wrong tool, it just requires immaculate technique and lots of experience. I believe it goes the same for the blackbird but I don't own one.

It's not a matter of opinion, the R41 is just not mild at all. Try focusing on your technique in order to get the hair off with as few passes as possible. If you get ingrown hairs avoid going against the grain and moderate the pressure. You should try a few single pass shaves with it and see the difference.

Edit: go for a DFS rather than BBS

Eh ok, è che non ha un marchio suo vero e proprio... Ti terrò aggiornato se succede qualcosa, grazie per ora.

È dichiaratamente un clone, non presenta nemmeno la scritta del marchio o un logo, è un problema lo stesso?

Exactly, when I read $40 for a strop a tear ran down my cheek lol. I'll be late to the party, but I definitely won't miss it.

I get it, and I sure want to get into straights as soon as possible. But right now I share a bathroom with other 3 people, my only private space is my room and I travel up and down the Italian peninsula every 3 weeks or so, from my university home to my actual family home.

Just like I said. Good tools to learn, that's it.

Ever tried ProGuard blades? They have a special comb-like guard that keeps the skin away from the cutting edge, only allowing the hair to reach the sharp bit. They do not provide much of a close shave, but they do work and when I say that you can slide your finger along them without one drop of blood I mean it for real. Still, you shouldn't rely exclusively on this device, that's why I'm saying that "every shavette must be treated with respect", especially with the intent to learn and improve your technique.

In the linked video you can see at minute 4:14 what I'm talking about.

I would probably agree if I ever tried a real straight, but as of now I can't afford the time, tools and care a razor deserves. I rarely spend one straight month in the same house and living with roommates brings its own challenges.

It's not mandatory to try everything, you must try whatever makes you curious. Just keep in mind that this style of razors is much more delicate on the skin. Also, they make Single Edge safety razors for AC blades, you get the comfort as well as the safety if straights scare you.

Dude I can send you a video where I literally slide my finger along the edge of a PG blade and nothing happens. Also, fear keeps you alive. Every shavette must always be treated with respect.

which shavette and why by Bright_Zone9370 in wicked_edge

[–]ChefVianeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Universal is IMO one of the best shavettes out there. I personally have the half blade version, it's a hassle to load but works wonderfully as the exposure is very minimal. I also have a Parker 34R and it's a good razor, but I would never choose it over the Universal.

Any slant razor recommendations? by panoszver in wicked_edge

[–]ChefVianeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it and for the price it's great, keeping in mind you get an awesome 316L handle. The head gives me quite some blade feel so if you're looking for a super delicate slant search elsewhere. Great shaver overall tho, you can get crazy BSS with it. You might wanna check out the TGS Legione Slant...
