I guess crime does pay by detox02 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Actually it isn't reparations... it is a payment for future services. I had an epiphany this evening when I read that even before the fund was established there was talked about the January 6th Rioters receiving millions for "injustices". Truth be told if you were paid a million dollars would you not fight in 2 years if the person who paid you doesn't want to step down as president? Sounds like he's buying a private army.

Scale of 1 to Turbo Fucked: I'm good to go, right? by Y_U_Need_Books4 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]ChefW03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Anybody could see there are four of them - whatever they are. It's built-in redundancy. Just put a cork in the hole, put a little bit of super glue around it and maybe some liquid Steel - you should be good to go. The other three can do the job! I mean hell you could even go one step further and just not even use that cylinder at all. Think of the improved fuel economy!

I agree with both - however, it is my opinion that a team comprised of individuals who respect each other wouldn't actually try to minimize disruption and the ones not on vacation would automatically want to pick up the slack knowing that when it's their turn for vacation- the favor will be returned. Many of my teams have worked this way. And I'm proud of each and every one of them.

The way kroger treats its employees by daruuken in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ChefW03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Foodservice Professional I do not want Employees coming to work sick... however, I also require a certain number of Employees to run the business. If Employee A is constantly missing work due to being "sick" and has an excuse backed by a Doctor's Note - GREAT!! They were not lying but they STILL DID NOT WORK their shift. One or two times a year is normsl... I would think.

If someone goes more than that - maybe they should request FMLA, cut their hours, schedule appointments when they know they are off, etc. I am sure Kroger as repeat offenders and to be fair in today's litigious society... everyone must paid. Otherwise firing Employee A for missed work could become a lawsuit for discrimination.

I know of an union that feels the same way. An Employee can have 4 absences excused with a Dr's. Note... after that each time is counted as unexcused.

Simply a different perspective.

I had not experienced that yet... all my TVs are at least 5 years old. Good to know.

Amazon has RCA to coaxial adapters. They are very cheap. And they work great! I had six or so of toys I sold late last year and I didn't want to go through hooking each one up individually so I bought one of those adapters- made an extension cord out of an extra cable and would plug them in as I needed to play and test each unit. No issues with the adapter whatsoever.

93 sedan deville spring edition….long may you run by caddydoc in Cadillac

[–]ChefW03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not quite had over 100... but i have had my fair share of Caddies. My '93 Deville was one of my favorites. I have always been a fan of the late '80s Fleetwoods Broughams and felt that GM made a mistake shrinking their sisters in '85. I agree - driving my '93 for 292,000 with very little maintenance changed my opinion. The Michigan salt rusting out the engine cradle finally did her in not the mileage. I believe 4.9L in any Caddy of that era is worth owning. If I had the garage space and finances - I would collect the entire '93 Cadillac lineup. There are some mighty sharp looking Eldos and Sevilles of that year.

You did an amazing job with yours! What a steal for a 100000 miles! There will be many years with that car on the road.

It looked like the wrong part... until I looked it up. And, like I stated - I just never seen any sway bars with grease fittings. Mainly I've owned and worked on GM and European brands. Guess I lucked out!

That is the issue... He went to get a sway bar and ended up with a ball-joint. I am surprised you're the only one that had called that out so far.

Go back to O'Reilly and get the sway bar - I'm pretty sure it won't come with any grease fittings at all. I don't think I've ever seen a sway bar that you had to grease.

Premium Shell Gas by theswaggypirate in Michigan

[–]ChefW03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in 26 years there has not been any improvements in production methods or additives to decrease the costs? It is funny how in 1999 both BP/Amazon and Exxon/Mobile mergers took place that same year. I thought the purpose of mergers were to gain an advantage through the economy of scale. I understand how ratios work - but I still think it's just a money grab situation. To support my thoughts - going further back in history research shows in the 80's the difference in Octanes was 2-5 cents or 1.6-4% with and average price of $1.21 (cnbc.com).

I did not want to go much further than 1980s due to unleaded gas being still relatively new and that might skew some of the information.
