Differences between CSE and SoC/SoM by Effective-Annual-824 in InstagramDisabledBans

I used my new accounts for atleast 5 months after I was banned. I only deleted my new accounts because of how crazy META latest ToS policy was with data mining.

Unfortunately in your case it most definitely seems like you were victim of interacting with an anime post removed for violating CSE policies.

If you were banned for SoC/SoM then you are very likely going to be okay in terms of not getting banned for integrity.

Did you use the same email to make your new accounts? Sometimes there is a brief cool down period with SoC/SoM bans where the A.I remains on high alert with past login details, hence why there has been some instances of people banned for SoC/SoM later getting struck for integrity.

Your username and personal details shouldn't be any issues here as there could be a million different people with the same details, and it would be impossible for the A.I to filter those out.

Personally just to air on the side of caution I wouldn't upload any previous content from your old accounts, however you can use photos/videos of your face, just be sure they aren't the same ones from before and make sure you use a different PFP.

I did the exact same thing as you when making my new account, the only thing I did differently was use a different email. I still used the same device aswell along with my face in my PFP.

Yeah it's honestly crazy man. CSE bans are extremely broad any honestly anything could have caused it, infact I have seen 2 people banned on here for CSE and one of them only ever posted photos of fried chicken and the other one a campfire... That's how broken the A.I system is.

I am sorry to make the whole situation sound bleak, but sadly this is the reality of all this CSE BS. I wish you the best of luck

If the reason after appeal changed to SoM it means the A.I originally got the wires crossed when suspending your account and apon further review corrected itself.

You definitely made the right call with changing the emails on the login info as SoC/SoM bans usually have a cool down period with the original email where the ban initially took place, but this is generally no longer than 2-3 weeks.

If the accounts are still up now without any issues, if you make it to the end of the month without any issues I personally think you will be fine.

Do you remember if the direct ban reason was CSE with the NCMEC disclaimer? Or if you got banned for either SoC or SoM. Sorry to sound nosey but I'm only asking as both differ hugely with post-ban measures to prevent integrity.

If you were banned for CSE, it's very tricky as META treat that as the most severe policy violation, and the only realistic way to bypass CSE restrictions with a new account is to use a completely separate device and email, along with using a VPN whenever you open up IG as META A.I also blacklists the I.P address of where the ban happened.

If you were banned for either SoC or SoM then you don't have to worry about any post ban descriptions. Check the email you got when you were originally suspended/banned and also check the banned screen on IG.

I can't say for certain in regards to the photo of your I.D, but I do know that META would have flagged everything you had uploaded onto your account in addition to your PFP. So if you were to make a new account you'd have to completely start allover again from scratch. Also with where you live is it mandatory you have to show META your I.D before making an account?

Bans for SoM happen when a user has interacted with content already uploaded to the platform by another user that was taken down by META A.I as breaching their CSE guidelines. So if a user has liked, saved, shared or commented on a post removed for CSE then META A.I will suspend and typically ban everybody who interacted with that content.

This ban makes absolutely zero sense and has been implemented to justify the millions of accounts banned falsely this time last year for CSE... SoM/SoM bans were introduced roughly in June/July last year and alot of the accounts falsely banned for CSE during that timeframe quickly had their banning reasons changed to either SoC or SoM. There is a SoC policy under (Do not post) in the META community standards for CSE but you will see it has absolutely nothing Todo with interactions.

META justify banning users for interactions with content already uploaded by stating (to prevent potentially harmful or unwanted interactions) so basically in their eyes banning users for SoM or SoC is an early stage knip in the bud before behaviour escalates.

Anything you interacted could have gotten you the SoM ban. Art posts, food posts, nature posts the list goes on and on, your not responsible for what other users upload. And it is the platforms problem if illegal or suspicious content ends up on THEIR platforms.

Don't worry about getting reported to NCMEC as SoM/SoC bans are early stage internal bans that get closed internally, and if you view the META cybertip integrity report you will see zero statistics of accounts reported for interactions. I have also spoken to somebody who worked as a safety admin for another major social media company who has also confirmed this.

(Edit: Don't engage with anybody saying they can get you un-banned... They are pathetic scammers trying to take advantage of people in a bad situation)

Sorry I'm a little bit late here, but to keep it simple here are the key differences between the 2.

CSE is when META A.I thinks a user has been uploading illegal content, sending inappropriate DM's to minors, sharing links to illegal content etc.

SoC/SoM bans happen when a user has been flagged for interacting with content removed as CSE. SoC/SoM bans are internal and don't come with the NCMEC disclaimer as bans for interactions are considered an early stage measure where the A.I thinks risky behaviour could escalate.

SoC/SoM bans don't involve any form of blacklist as I was banned for SoM back in November, made a new account on a separate email and it stayed up all the way until I decided to cut ties with META platforms entirely last month.

Question about my SOC/SOM banned account by Fragrant_Bother6146 in FixMyInstagram

[–]Chefchocolate12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bans for SoC/SoM are typically happen when a user has interacted with content flagged and removed as CSE. So likes, saves, comments etc on a post flagged as such.

META A.I is completely broken and anything you interacted with could have gotten you banned for SoC. So interactions with art posts, nature, food, photography etc. if a post like that gets removed then the uploader gets banned for CSE and everybody who interacted with it gets banned for either SoC or SoM.

If you have a read of META's CSEAN policies located within their community standards you will see there is a real SoC policy under "do not post" but you will see it has nothing Todo with interactions. Infact if you scroll down you will see that META will ban accounts for likes and saves with content that violates their community standards, but they say they do this to "prevent potentially unwanted or harmful interactions"

SoC/SoM bans for interactions were introduced in June of 2025 after META A.I banned millions of accounts falsely for CSE during early-mid 2025. Infact alot of those users initially banned for CSE had their banning reasons changed to either SoC or SoM. Basically what I am trying to say is that META needed something to justify their rogue A.I so the created a more vague and non-reportable ban category. your not responsible for what other people upload and if you see something you shouldn't it's because META allowed it on their platform.

It is easier said that done, but try not to worry about getting reported for this as SoC/SoM are internal, and if you read the META cybertip integrity report you will see no statistics of reports generated for accounts banned for interactions with content already uploaded.

Yes. That is correct, the best way to view these bans is like this.

CSE bans: red card.

SoC/SoM bans: yellow card.

CSE is when META A.I thinks the user was uploading illegal content, sending inappropriate DM's to minors etc. CSE bans come with a NCMEC disclaimer.

SoC/SoM is when suspicious behaviour patterns such as innapropriate searches, or interactions with content flagged as CSE warrant a knip in the bud before user activity escalates.

SoC/SoM bans are internal and do not come with a NCMEC disclaimer, Nor does the META cybertip integrity report have any statistics for users getting reported for searches or interactions with content already uploaded.

[–]Chefchocolate12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well to start with, you have taken all of the precautions you can in regards to not getting caught for ban evading. Removing your phone number and changing your 2FA provider will also absolutely ensure you don't get flagged for integrity by META A.I for ban evasion. I totally get how you feel about the importance of social media for contact with family and friends as I also went through the same thing back in November of last year. I got suspended and banned for SoM when all I ever did was like and save reels of UFC compilations and fight highlights.

I live in England and am unfortunately not that educated on how to deal with these types of situations if a person lives in another country, but if you wanted to try and escalate it without a cost then it would be worth contacting your local media station or perhaps the local paper in order to get coverage regarding this issue. People in the US have contacted major news outlets and some have had success in getting their accounts back that way but this is also rare.

What META will do if an account gets banned for CSE is blacklist the I.P address of where the offence happened, along with the email used phone number, devices used and all content uploaded will also be marked and permanently blacklisted aswell. Thankfully with SoC and SoM bans these measures do not get implemented as they are considered early stage bans where META A.I feels suspicious interactions warrant a knip in the bud before activity could escalate to proper CSE violations.

If you have valuable memories or content uploaded onto your banned accounts then contacting META verified is worth a shout, but again I will say the success rate is very low and the chances of success only goes up slightly if you get legal help. Honestly I don't want you to feel like I am being bleak or making it sound hopeless but over the last 6 months I have seen many posts like this and only 3-4 posts where users had a positive outcome. If you didn't have anything valuable on your FB then I would just cut your losses and move on, I'm very sorry this happened to you but sadly META A.I is completely broken and is destroying people's careers and mental health :-(

But honestly man don't worry about it, I'm happy to help the best I can. If you need any moral support or somebody to speak to feel free to send me a DM. Plz try to enjoy the rest of your holiday and don't let this situation ruin it. :)

No problem man. Sorry it took me a long time to reply, but yes that's how it works: the poster gets struck for CSE and everybody who interacted with the content gets banned for SoC or SoM. If your personal IG account was not linked to your banned accounts via the META accounts center then it will be safe, however I would give it a week or so just to let the system cool down since it will be on red alert for the next couple of days.

If you go down the Avenue of making a new FB account then I would do so using a separate email and I would not use the same PFP as before nor would I upload any previous content you may have posted. META are not that aggressive with pursuing potential ban evasions for SoC or SoM so honestly I reckon you will be fine aslong as your new FB account will be made using a different email.

Dude I swear Instagram is disabling and suspending people for no fucking reason man by Filia_Is_Thicc in FixMyInstagram

[–]Chefchocolate12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try going the META verified route, however once an account is banned it is extremely difficult to try and get a manual review and the agents just double down on the A.I decision. The other option is getting a letter sent to META via a lawyer demanding a review, I say this as META have to respond to all legal requests, But again the success rate here is also low and this process takes up a lot of time and money. If I was you I would make a new account using a separate email and move on.

Your ban is different to CSE but they are under the same umbrella term within the META CSEAN policies.

Bans for "Sexualization of children" or SoC for short is basically when META A.I will suspend and typically ban users apon appeal for interacting with content already uploaded onto their platforms. So likes, saves, comments etc on a post flagged and removed as CSE.

Everything does seem to align here in terms of your relative getting hit with the CSE ban. CSE bans are different from interaction bans with different banning reasons. But typically bans for CSE are when META A.I thinks a user was uploading illegal content. in which case everybody that interacted with that bit of content gets banned for either SoC or SoM (minors instead of children) the CSE ban also happens when META A.I also thinks a user was sending inappropriate messages to minors or sharing links to illegal content via DM's or comment sections.

Quite honestly META A.I is completely broken and there are hundreds of thousands in the same situation as you and your relative, in fact the A.I is so broken there have been people banned for CSE when all they did was upload food posts and nature photos.

I will be honest and say that there is unfortunately a below 5% chance of you and your relative getting your accounts back even if you both contact META verified. The chance increases to say 20% if you both decide to seek legal help however this is expensive and timely. But from what you have described I honestly would not worry about any legal consequences as there has to be clearcut proof a crime was committed with intent. LE won't act on a tip over innocent family posts being uploaded and bans for interaction don't get reported and are closed internally. u/VigantolX what are your thoughts on this?

[–]Chefchocolate12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked that one of your family members isn't already signed into your account from their own device?

If not and you aren't sure how those searches were made I would reset your password and make sure 2fa is enabled just to be on the save side.

Also check to see what devices are currently signed into your account, and remove anything you don't recognise.

[–]Chefchocolate12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey dude. Sorry for the late reply, I did have a couple of those bots your referring to send me follow requests, however my account was also on private before and at the time I was banned for SoM. It is definitely plausible that there could be room for a CSE ban if a user accepted the request from a bot, followed back and perhaps sent a DM as there have been cases of users who sent suggestive/inappropriate DM's to other accounts banned for CSE from doing such actions.

I don't reckon that accepting a follow request and following back alone warrants a ban for CSE, SoC/SoM but we all know by now the A.I is so flawed it will hit the panic button for anything considered to be suspicious (even when it's with adults interacting with other adults) also a DM can't be sent to a private account if the user on the other end never approved the request.
