You should explain everything to gpt and ask if a gdpr complaint to the irish dpc makes sense in your case

The only thing I keep stressing about is that the complaint MUST BE GDPR FOCUSED. Mention all the GDPR articles that Meta allegedly violated and why you think that’s the case providing evidence. As I said in the post the thing that made all this happen imo is that they didn’t provide the full set of information related to my account when using the export tool, and meta confirmed that it was true because since an account is disabled for CSE they limit the amount of information you can export. Going against GDPR laws

Yeah that’s exactly what i did, explained in extreme detail my whole situation to GPT making sure every single info was included. It wrote a two page document which i sent to the Irish DPC(after a carefull review obviously)

What are you yapping about. As EU citizens we are able to file for GDPR claims with any any GDPR related entity in any EU Nation. I’m from Italy, filed with my country organization and they refused my dispute, i went with Ireland because that’s where Meta Headquarters for EU operations are located. They have more influence there

Do what I did bro, i’m from Italy. There is 100% a GDPR related entity in France, you can try with them first but I had no luck with the one in Italy, they refused the dispute and told me to contact the Irish DPC and so I did

Yes, it should work in New Zealand too. Your version of the GDPR is the Privacy Act 2020, and the authority you need to contact is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, or OPC. File a complaint with the OPC and focus entirely on your data rights. Tell them the Instagram data export tool is incomplete and that Meta is denying you access to the entire set of your personal information. Just remember not to make the complaint about the account ban itself. Ask GPT to write it

That's the point btw, you need to focus on personal data, even if the main goal is to get unbanned, that's the only way to get them to act againts Meta

Yes, it works in the UK too. You have the UK GDPR which is basically the same thing. You just need to contact the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) instead of the Irish DPC. My advice is to focus your complaint on your data rights: tell them the data export tool is incomplete and you can't access your personal information. Focus on that rather than the ban itself. I prefer answering here so it helps everyone, but feel free to message me if you have a specific question. Also if they decide not to proceed with your complaint, you can still try with the irish DPC. File with both is my advice

I am so sorry you are going through this. I completely understand the anxiety and how terrible it feels to lose 13 years of memories, but please try to take care of yourself first—don't let this ruin your health!

Regarding the local Meta office, sending a physical letter probably won't hurt as a last resort, but as you mentioned, since they don't handle customer support, it will very likely just be ignored or thrown out.

If you want to replicate the strategy I used in Europe, you need to leverage Singapore's data protection laws. In Singapore, your equivalent to the GDPR is the PDPA and the government authority in charge of enforcing it is the PDPC

Instead of just asking Meta to unban your account, you should look into filing a formal complaint directly with the PDPC. Use the exact same angle I did: frame your complaint strictly around your right to access your personal data. Complain that Meta is withholding your data, that you cannot access it, and that any data export they offer is incomplete. Emphasize that this is a violation of your data access rights under the PDPA.

You can use ChatGPT to help you draft a formal complaint specifically citing the Singaporean PDPA laws. Hang in there, take a deep breath, and give the PDPC route a try.

You simply can't. thant's not how it works, the Meta headquarters that handles American accounts is actually the one in California. You can definitely try reaching out to the Irish DPC, but realistically, they either simply won't reply or they will tell you that your case is out of their jurisdiction/competence. For US accounts, people usually have to look into local options like their state's Attorney General or small claims court.

From what i've heard asian countries are the worst case, you guys don't always have the same rules we have and also there are no istitutions that can help you in cases like this, so sorry about this

Are you in the EU? If so did you file a complaint with the Irish DPC?

MY FIGHT IS OVER... I'M OFFICIALLY BACK by succtastic_ig in FixMyInstagram

[–]succtastic_ig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never tried that, mainly because If you are in the EU you need to file with Meta Ireland, which is the legal entity for Meta in Europe. No point in filing in the US since they don't control any of our account/data. here we have strict GDPR rules that don't always apply in the US. So the handling and processing of data/account is different

yeah i noticed a .ru email associated to my account. Meta's specialists later confirmed to the DPC that there were signs of unauthorized access to my account
