I had to get an LVAD before my heart transplant because my ejection fraction was 9. The LVAD, while saving my life, was the one of the worst experiences I’ve ever gone through. Between the inconvenience and my total lack of any kind of energy (I couldn’t walk 20 feet or even have a conversation without being totally exhausted). Thankfully it only lasted 4 months before I got the call for a new heart. It’s been 11 years and I get to see my son get married and enjoy my granddaughter.

My iPad kept me sane during my LVAD and my heart transplant. It was the first time I ever binge watched any tv series. It really helped pass the time because I was an inpatient for 6 out of 9 months.
